I love visiting these types of markets when I'm in South America. Beautiful fresh ingredients everywhere. I wished I'd been staying in an Airbnb so I could cook my own food. Everything you can imagine from the many types of Peruvian potatoes, to rare meats and seafood. Our Belmond tour guide brought us here after a local attraction was closed due to election day. Bring cash and buy some chicha from the local folks you rich foreigner. End of review.

A truly authentic Lima food experience, for those that don't like to travel as tourists. My mother used to take me here in the 70's and 80's for daily groceries, before supermarkets existed in Lima. They used to slaughter live chickens here and then sell you the freshest possible meat, but no longer :/

A very interesting market to walk around and see how things are done in Peru. Lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, meats, etc. Could not believe the chickens and other meats and seafood and the presentation there of, interesting. Busy place, but I would recommend an hour or so for this market. Beautiful place to photograph due to the interesting colours and other sights.

There's nothing overly special about it here. it seems to be more for locals rather than tourists. It's mainly just produce, meat and a groceries. The produce selection is really good and cheap. But it would be worthwhile having a look here if you've got the chance
My favourite thing about here is it's an excellent place to get something to eat for a low price. 8 soles for a huge plate of Lomo Soltado and a huge drink of apple juice or 6 soles for chicken and chips.

This is a large sprawling market selling pretty much everything and anything a householder may want. As such it is very much aimed at servicing the local population, although there will be many day to day bits that the tourist may find irresistible. It’s a big purveyor of base ingredients to the populace and the many food outlets that draw men like flies at lunchtime. Wouldn’t put it top of my list of things to do, but who doesn’t love a browse round a market?!!

Visiting whilst doing a walking tour. It's a local market, no tourist junk for sale here. In one sense it's no different from any other local market but we found it interesting because we got to see a lot of local produce up close that we didn't know about and got to ask lots of questions. Therefore don't go on your own but okay with a guide. So many varieties of potatoes some of which were totally unrecognisable.
