Violent crime is rampant in this part of the city (especially on the road from the airport) and it goes under-reported because the local police make filing a claim so difficult. Avoid.

El Callao has a street where there are some nice restaurants and some galleries that are interesting to visit. However, this seems to be a very dangerous area so best to avoid on your own or late at night.

On our second day, our taxicab Arturo took us to La punta to sightsee and to eat mariscos. It was great to see El Real Felipe, the Escuela Naval and the beautiful old houses in this district.

This is the port city of Lima. A business and shipping area with tons of history. Go with someone who can tour you around and make sure you go to the fish market. Fantastic

The port is impressive. Not too far is the interesting fisherman's wharf where there are lots of sea life for sale. People repairing fishing nets, too. Nice beach. Lots of Pelicans.
