Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

And then you will see 2 adjacent structures housing art. I failed to notice this until too late. The art collection in the main building is all religious, most very old, and not my thing
The attraction for me was the building itself-tall ceilings and wonderful stained glass windows and beautiful decorative trim

This museum is a jewel. We were approached by an English-speaking docent in the front of the house. She was very knowledgeable and narrated our tour through the house and its amazing collection in impeccable English. Don't miss this gorgeous place!

We came upon this little museum by accident, but enjoyed it greatly. Our lovely tour guide gave us a personal and thorough lesson (in perfect English) in the art displayed and we learned about how the native peoples blended Catholicism and European art with their own ancient culture. I especially enjoyed seeing the original Spanish sketches next to paintings by the Cusco artists who added their own secret touches, and the tabletop religious dioramas filled with detail.

This is a really good museum. Just colonial pintures. The building is an historic one and the location is in the bohemian block of Barranco.

It has a remarkable collection of paintings and sculptures where you can truly appreciate the different types of art and how it evolved over time. The house itself is beautuful, as well as the gardens. At the end of the gardens there is a special collection of furniture which is absolutely impresive, even the ceilings decorations were very delicate and beautiful.
And dont miss the silverware collection, amazing collection of different sorts dating a couple of centuries back.

If you enjoy Colonial art especially Latin American Colonial art this wonderful museum should be numero uno on your list. In the past week I've seen every major museum and tourist site in Lima and nothing comes close to this museum. The mansion was originally the fabulous summer home of a wealthy Mayor (of both Lima and Barranco) who began building an extraordinary, large collection of Peruvian Colonial religious art. The subject may not interest many people but for those who are interested this is a major must-see. Your entrance fee includes a guided tour in either English or Spanish.

This museum in the Barranco district of Lima has a little of everything that seems to define Peruvian culture. It is a great stop if you are in the area and definitely recommended.

We were walking down a road in Barranco and came across this museum housed in a beautiful mansion - thought we'd check it and and were so glad that we did. It reminded us of the Gulbenkian in Lisbon: a lovingly curated impressive personal collection housed in great buildings and grounds. The explanatory notes in English and Spanish are excellent. The highlights for me were the paintings of archangels in the Cusco tradition and the breathtaking pre-Columbian collection in the new building.

Our Peruvian friends brought my wife and me here on our first day in Peru. The displays cover a little history and a lot of art from the Colonial period. It effectively introduced us to Cuscueno art, which we would see much more of in Cuzco. A nice section on native ceramics and weapons is accompanied by thoughtful historical commentary. And the architecture of the magnificent home was superb. (Hats off to those who maintain the buildings!) Ceramics, sculpture, painting and more were covered concisely but elegantly.
And as we crossed the beautifully landscaped grounds, the hummingbirds performed an aerobatics show.
I was an exchange student to Peru in 1966, and it's been half a century since in my visit. A trip to this excellent museum was a great cultural refresher and beginning to our homecoming ...

What is the distance in miles and travel time between Miraflores and Osma Museum in Barranca?
Written 8 March 2019
I just saw this question so better late than never? Miraflores is only a mile or so away. Walkable if you’re adventurous or you can catch an Uber or a bus. The museum is lovely and worth visiting. In fact, I stayed in Barranco? much quieter than Miraflores and quite charming.
