Elegant and charming residential neighborhood located north of Lima features neo-classic architecture, cobblestone streets, excellent dining, good shopping and the Huaca Hallamarma, a restored pre-Inca pyramid that now serves as a small museum of Indian artifacts.

We perform checks on reviews.
Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Even after dark this modern (financial) district just north of Miraflores is safe. If you are planning to arrive in Lima in the evening or even during the day look for a bus company that drops off or has a terminal here of close by (e.g. TRC). San Isidro is within walking distance of (low) budget accommodation in Miraflores. Avoid arriving in La Victoria the neighborhood just north of San Isidro, as that area is densely populated and security there is an issue.

This municipality is all about bussines. It's really centric, hence many international forums being held here (ie. UN Climate Summit). There's some green parks and interesting buildings scattered throughout the city, but I wouldn't recommend you waste a day there if you're on a tight schedule.

Beautiful section with many bars, cafes and restaurants. Overall, San Isidro has the feeling of being very safe and up and coming. In my opinion is rivals Miraflores for safety and beauty. And if it doesn't Miraflores is a short walk away.

San Isidro is not as some reviews pointed out typical Peru. I purchased an apartment here in San Isidro, because for me, it was the most comfortable area in Lima, also very safe.
I am British and for me the area answers all my needs. Fine restaurants, excellent supermarkets, great shops.
Unfortunately the one thing I hate about Peru is that the cafe culture is so wonderful, with their great coffees, and their cakes are sublime, I find it very difficult to not put on weight here, still I shall diet when I return to the UK.

The Lima district of San Isidro gives you that quiet suburban feel, nice retro-colonial style homes. The olive trees and the park enhances that feeling.

Signs of development encroaching is there. New modern multistory buildings are starting to creep into the landscape. Hopefully the local government will work to preserve some of the charm of this community.

Why...because it isn't over run by tourists and a bit classier. Miraflores is only 7 minutes away, Easy to get everywhere from here.

There are basically two good areas to be in Lima, one is San Isidro and the other one is Miraflores.

Here is where many of the world's embassies are found. There are great restaurants and athletic facilities here. We were even able to visit the country club and ate a very traditional meal which was very delicious while we were there.
