Must visit place in the city
Lovely large square with the impressive buildings to admire. It’s a shame that it’s still cordoned off with barriers so you can’t wander through the parks in the centre, instead being restricted to the perimeter, but fight to the front of the crowds and it’s still impressive. Plenty going on and to observe, with the services from the cathedral coming and going, and it’s a must visit for anyone’s first time in the city.

A Very Large Plaza with a Lot of History
The Plaza Mayor, or the Plaza de Armas, is considered to be the birthplace of the city of Lima. The Main Square is surrounded by the Presidential Palace, the Arch Bishop’s Palace, the Cathedral, the Town Hall, and a large Fountain in the center of it all. It is a hub where people gather, children parade, and tourists gawk at the colonial architecture. What impressed us most were those stunning, carved wood and metal Balconies. We arrived with a Tour Guide who regaled us with a lot of the History of the place. We wished we could have stayed longer. Certainly, a place to visit if you find yourself in Lima.

Visit this place! You won't regret
Beautiful place with colonial architecture around. Clean streets and it feels safe to walk by. We enjoyed watching the changing of the guards at the presidential building. Must-see place in Lima! Definitely recommend this one!

    Heart of Lima
A really stunning Plaza awaits in the historic centre of Lima. Each side is a viewing pleasure with the Lima Cathedral dominating the eastern side of the plaza with the Presidential Palace taking the northern aspect and bright colourful buildings with beautiful timber balconies taking up the other sides. In the middle of the Plaza a great bronze fountain that dates back to 1650 and still works! We were there on a sunny & busy Sunday with what seemed to be half the population of Lima? A great spot to enjoy & wander.

Nice enough but not necessarily somewhere you’d want to spend much time in.

I enjoyed passing through but on the way to somewhere else.

We visited the Old Town with a tour from our cruise ship. As you make your way to Plaza Mayor, you will notice that most of the area is not open to traffic. When you arrive, you can see the Government Palace, Town Hall, Bishop’s Palace, and the Cathedral. We spent a great deal of time in the Cathedral, and it is very beautiful with the side altars and stained-glass

The square was very beautiful, I visited the church and other places. Then I went on a trip to Ica. Walking through the desert was incredible.
