Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well worth exploring, this is a great collection of Inka artifacts covering all various aspects of culture and life. Pre-Inka items have their own space on the first floor.

The place has an amazing collection of artefacts, although the presentation gives a bit of an academic impression, educative yet not quite attractive. It could really use a bit of a freshening-up.

The tour will take you from the ground floor to the second one. The markings on the floor are signalling clearly the path one would take around the exhibition, which I found very helpful. At the end of the tour, on the teterrace, there are some merchants offering souvenirs.

Bach on the ground floor, if you're lucky, there will be some demonstration of weaving and crafting.
The highlight for me was at the end of the tour, in a room on the ground floor that is unfortunately easy to miss, where an exhibition of traditional instruments in combined with a live demo of a native man who makes their replicas in his own studio and would play them for you. His instruments are available for purchase, and while these won't be the cheapest souvenirs you could bring back home, they are unique and carefully hand-crafted, on a different level of quality and significance than the mass-produced knick-knacks you'll find in the markets. I whole heartedly recommand this exhibition and the purchase.

I was surprised, I believed this museum because it was bigger than I could imagine and the price to get in there is not really expensive.I really recommend it.

Large collection but setting is very plain and in some cases neglected. Also building looks old and unattended.
I would recommend to visit the MAP museum of precolombino.

This was one of the suggestions our guide made for independent activities and it was worth a visit. Make sure you get your ticket at the ticket office on the ground level because they'll want to see it when you get up to the second floor!

There was a lot of good documentation showing Macchu Picchu before it was cleared of overgrowth and put back into use as a tourist stop over 100 years ago. Exhibits also included much material from Inca burial sites and surrounding areas. While most of the information panels included English translations (which I appreciated) they were sometimes abbreviated versions of the Spanish ones.

Gift shop area included local crafts and a woman who was making them as you watched.

Well worth a visit.

Very interesting collection of artifacts. The museum covered a broad range of Incan history all the way through to the current day. Don't miss the mummies! Also, it's a sales job, but you don't want to miss a very interesting room near the end of the tour that has many musical instruments and demonstrations on how they work.

We really enjoyed our visit to this small museum. The displays were informative and the explanations were in both English and Spanish, making it easy to understand the exhibits. The museum is not huge but the collection is nice and informative. It is worth stopping in if you have time while in Cusco.

Nice museum with a little bit of everything about the Incas. Its 20 Soles for Foreginers. We stayed maybe an hour. You could spend a day here if you read everything - which maybe only 25% is in English. Best part were the mummys.
