2 km north of Cuzco, this archaeological site stands out. It is assumed that it was built at the time of the Inca Pachacútec in the XV century, and was completed during the government of the Inca Huayna Cápac in the s. XVI. Surprising mastery of carving and assembly of huge stone blocks

Compared to Machu Picchu, it was an okay experience. Definitely a rip off in terms of the entrance fees we paid for it. Will recommend checking this place in the end after you have covered the rest in Cusco.

This is a beautiful place to enjoy in cuscop, it is a place where you relax and you can think about many things, it gives you the peace you need, along the way you learn, meet and discover new things that you will not find anywhere else.

Inca ruins that overlook Cusco. A must see sight if you are in town. Great place to visit and again ask the question - How did they do this and what was it used for?!

It is mind boggling to think that an ancient culture could build such structures. Some of these stones weigh 128 tons. The slides across from Sacsayhuaman were closed when we were there unfortunately.

How the heck they do that ? Humongous stones, stacked so smoothly with no spaces between them and without machinery

We only had a few hours here and, I have to say, it wasn't enough. The area is huge. We spent several hours walking around and I still didn't feel like we saw everything. Also, it's hard to do unless you're properly acclimated. I basically wheezed my way through this site, despite being in fairly good shape.

Hello, Peter. Thanks for your message!
Let me see if I can help you! Urubamba is a nice city to stay. There many archeological sites around. I would definitely recommend moray, maras and ollantaytambo. You’ll probably get the train from this last site.we did everything with the help of a very nice tour company called abc tupay! I do recommend have your trip to matchu pichu as early as you can 7:00 am)! This way, you’ll have the opportunity to include the mountains climbing! Please, let me know if this is what you want to know!
Have a wonderful trip

This may seem like a silly question as there are stray dogs everywhere, but can I be admitted with my dog? Thanks!

Ciao! Grazie.

What is the condition of the way up to Sacsayhuaman, when walking?

I was staying at a Hostel in the Plaza and just started walking. It is all up hill, but there is a lot to see just be walking the side streets. I found a couple of gift shops and purchased some things fairly cheap. Also, right outside the entrance there is a a cafe that is enjoyable to grab a meal or a cold one. The balcony has an excellent view of Cusco. Then I started my way back to the Plaza.
Enjoy !!
