    QUITE THE EXPERIENCE!
We had heard that the San Pedro Market is a must see when visiting Cusco. It's a shoppers paradise, that's for sure! But I found it to be very overwhelming, a sensory overload. There were so many stalls filled with the same types of souvenirs, one on top of the other. We saw everything from chocolate, breads, fresh flowers, there were places that had food and fresh juice drinks. My sister and I stayed only a short time, but we did manage to make a few purchases. It is an experience, but just a bit too much for me. On the way to the market, there were vendors set up all along the sidewalks selling items also. I'm glad we went to check it out, but I felt too confined in there....it was just so packed with everything!

Place to eat cheap and well!
Great place to eat, there are stalls for breakfast type of food, different stalls for lunch, and different stalls for Juice. The type of food within the stalls is somewhat similar, and the price cheap (plate of lomo saltado/chicken milanesa/fried trout that comes with soup and drink is 8 soles). It is fast food style so eat and go. Locals are also eating here. I also got Fruit Juice in juice stalls, no upset stomach thank goodness. Outside the market, there are vendors selling quail eggs, five for two soles. Yummy! Hundred percent would rather eat here than in the fancy restaurants in Plaza Mayor. Vendors appear to have been used to tourists, so be at ease!

Great visit, good stuff, interesting pricing
Its what all the other reviews say - the breakfast is sweet :) I do want to echo the crazy of how different the pricing is...really so all all over. There is def price gouging in terms of what locals are charging, from one booth to the next there are extreme price differences. So, maybe ask a few folks before buying (not saying to haggle, just to see what folks are wanting) because I was surprised.

True, previous experience, a must go to place when in Cusco.
Spend a few hours at this market and you will have an incredible Peruvian experience. I am a big fruit lover, and a lot of the fruits sold in this market cannot be found in local stores. I brought a lot of cash with me and went crazy buying everything that I wanted to try in Peru, and I did not regret it. The prices are not necessarily cheap, I find them expensive, but it’s a once in a lifetime experience. I also sat down and had a nice fruit smoothie at one of the stalls, which was absolutely delicious however, the beverage was not cold. They sell a variety of things from groceries to meat to fish the fruits, vegetables, and dried goods. I found the dried goods looking very interesting and next time I think I will focus more on buying that. I also saw a lot of lovely, souvenirs and authentic Peruvian products , and again next time I will come back with a large suitcase to bring back gifts to friends and family. I sat in one of the stalls and had a delicious meal, and authentic Peruvian meal of rice, vegetables, and a side soup. I had a beverage with that too and the whole thing only cost me seven dollars. Outside the market there are public bathrooms for 2 Soles, although very crowded and not clean, it worked. Outside the market, and then all the little streets surrounding the area. There’s tons of vendors, and the whole area has such an authentic field to it. I sat down outside of a bench and ate some of my fruits while watching people go by. What a beautiful experience in Cusco. I can’t wait to come back...

    Must see market!
This market was fantastic. All the typical obvious things to purchase, so what makes this market so great? Are you a fresh juice person? They will make you anything and everything! Feeling some sort of way, they’ve got a juice for that. There was a stand to get chocolate and coffee to bring home that had great prices. You can get a very inexpensive meal here. Plenty to explore, taste, and shop for!!

Great Local Market with Great Gifts & Food
A must visit while in Cusco! Visited in April 2024 we were so happy that we came down to this market. It’s fun to walk here because it’s right in the middle of the city so you really get to experience the local side of Cusco. As you would expect it’s a large market filled with all sorts of different vendors. We decided to have lunch here at one of the ceviche stalls and it was truly fantastic. The pricing is insanely cheap, but the food quality is very high. Prices here will be a bit more expensive than some other areas around Peru due to the heavy amount of tourists but still everything is very fairly priced and it is very safe. It is a great place to get gifts for others or for yourself as well. Make sure to not miss the fruit juice and smoothie people at the front, some of the best fruit drinks I have had in my entire life. Don’t miss it or you will regret it!

    Almost overwhelming!!
I visited the market several times, wandering up and down the stalls. The selection of everything from clothing to housewares, chocolate to salt, fruits and veggies to gifts is incredible! Prices are very reasonable. My family and I got a bite to eat our first day in Cusco. This is not fast food! Freshly prepared with care and love. You can communicate easily with your armchair Spanish. Everyone was kind and patient. I learned that certain food stalls will sell out quickly, those are the ones to visit, just look for the large crowds. I also learned that the stalls are handed down through the families. So the young woman making you fresh juice inherited the stall from her mother, grandmother and so on. So much fun!

Found everything I needed under one roof!
I loved this market. It was one of my favorites among the markets I have visited around the world. The venders were friendly, the prices reasonable, and the variety of items exceptional, especially the food items. I highly recommend you visit when you are in Cusco.

As a traveler, it's always fun to explore markets in foreign countries. The exotic goods, unique scents, food stalls... Mercado San Pedro is no exception.

We bought various nuts and chocolates for some upcoming mountain excursions around Cusco - and found the prices quite high.

We also decided to eat at one of the small food stalls; 1 serving of chicken soup and 1 serving of rice with chicken; and had to pay 30 soles. That's when we realized we were paying tourist prices - these humble dishes served on wobbly benches shouldn't have cost even half of that.

Just to check, we asked a water vendor how much he wanted for a 0.75-liter bottle of water. 3 soles! We politely declined.

In a supermarket on Calle Union just across from Mercado San Pedro, the same bottles of water cost 1.70 soles. And large bags of nuts were much cheaper than what we had just bought.

Kind of annoying that as a tourist, you always seem to be seen as fair game.

Personally, I would definitely not eat her but lots of people are good variety of stuff, many of the same at each vendor for about a half hour to walk-through that was plenty
