Enjoy the beautiful Andean landscape of Peru on board of a luxury and magical way to travel between Cusco and the Lake Titicaca. Travelling in the Andean Explorer is a unique experience, a route between mountains, clouds, snow-capped mountains and puna finishing in the majestic Lake Titicaca. Its coaches involve you in an environment extremely decorated with the elegant style of Pullman trains of the decade of 1920. Its tourist shows, the 5-fork lunch, dining cars, observatory-bar car outdoors, among other attractions.

We took Puno to Cusco route. Beautiful Pullman railroad cars with exquisite environment. They have pretty good lunch, 5 o'clock tea and free cocktail at the lounge bar zone. Multiple shows with local bands and presentation of alpaca goods with crew members modelling. One stop at the highest point of a trip in a mountains with small church and local... More

It's a long journey, but the time passes quite quickly. The scenery is interesting (not stunning), there is live Peruvian music and dancing which passes the time pleasantly enough and a meal which is not of great quality. It is all fine, just not quite what the Peru Rail blurb suggests it will be.

We went Puno to Cusco. When you arrive at Puno station you are treated so well. Your bags are taken away and a member of staff shows you individually to your seats. Service is exceptional. Plenty of really good staff. The food was excellent. You are entertained by local musicians morning and afternoon. There is a great observation car and... More

OK so to address some other comments, the target customer for this trip is middle age / elderly on an organised tour. Expect (and ignore) the entertainment: fashion show, dancing, make a pisco sour. Cheesy in my view. I took the trip because I love railway and wanted to go Cusco-Puno. I was aggrieved by the US$340 price, however it... More

We had travelled so far to do all this, hang the cost. Some trepidation as we really didn't know what to expect. Arrived Cusco Station and were greeted warmly by conductors and baggage people. Having got over the surprise and excitement as we saw the quality of the open ended viewing carriage we were escorted aboard. 1 carriage for the... More

Peru Rail from Ollanta to Machu Picchu and return. Excellent new train. Clean carriages. Friendly and courteous on board service with meal/snack and drink service. The return journey to Ollanta with Priscila and Zelena was great. The waiting rooms were also good and you can buy food and snacks. The attendants efficiently directed passengers to the carriages. Ample on board... More

We took the Cusco to Puno route in March 2017 as a bit of luxury following our Inca Trail Trek. It’s a bit of a fuss that you have to go along to a Peru Rail office for them to print out your ticket, given that you can book online. Apart from that though, we were very satisfied with our... More

I did this train ride in the direction Puno to Cusco. It takes you over flat lands on its way to the mountains. It trundles along slowly and you get time to take in the scenery. At points it goes through towns and the tracks go through narrow streets with markets either side. Out in the countryside you see small... More

Although the trainride was quite expensive, it was a once in a lifetime exexperience. The food was incredible, the panorama was beautiful and the staff was incredibly kind and helpful. If I did it again.
