The outer decoration of Iglesia de la Compania de Jesus is very strongly influenced by me. Similarly, I was impressed by the decoration of the dome in Toledo, Spain.

A must see of the visit is the amazing painting/mural in the side chapel of Amazonian birds and animals.

This is less a museum than a single, highly ornamental room. The paintings are wild and cover ever surface of walls and ceiling--colorful and imaginative animals and flowers. It reminded me of Istanbul, not South America. There's good signage in Spanish and English.

I really liked this inside court. The arches that surround it are a filigran piece of art. Nice also if you just walk around.

It's a nice church, but I found the outside and the 1st courtyard more impressive than the church itself. I did really like the Ignacio de Loyolla chapel. The polychrome paintings are stunning and unique. You have to pay 5 soles to enter the chapel,...More

Very beautiful courtyard to visit with shops and sometimes an artist is there with paintings to sell. The top level has a good place for cheese and wine but gives a view of all the mountains and good for taking photos. Worth a look in...More

At the edge of the Plaza de Armas, one may have to make several attempts before getting inside, as the church seems to be open at somewhat erratic hours. Well worth the wait to see the interior of a richly decorated church. With a personal...More
