If you visit Arequipa, you need to visit and take a picture here.
Tips:
1) Choose the arch at the middle so your picture doesn't show the telephone cables.
2) Nearby you can taste Queso Helado, Sango, Picarones, Buñuelos and drink Energina and Kola Escosesa.

This area is very unique. It sits up high overlooking the city with a plaza area, an arches wall and a park with palm trees. Very neat setting with big letters spelling out Arequipa.

Cabbing from Arequipa center to Yanahuara. There are cabs available for every place in Arequipa you want to visit from here. They are better than buses, and cheaper. Ice-cream sold by vendors is nice. Beware of scammers here.

I really enjoyed my stay in Yanahuara. Nice quiet area and I never felt other than safe walking around. It's about a 20 minute walk to the main Plaza de Armas of Arequipa but there are plenty of shops and supermarkets around if that's what you need.

It's a beautiful district which is about a 20-30 minute walk from the Old Town. The Mirador De Yanahuara is a must stop while you're here. Great view of the Old town and great photo opportunities.

Fascinating bridge and part of a city tour that has to be done and this is a quintessential part of the day out. Make sure you find time

Headed to the viewpoint a couple of times as not far from our stay. It’s a good spot to see the volcanoes and especially Misti of course, but check if the weather is clear. Otherwise it is a waste of time, nothing much else to do there.

Though even on a cloudy day its worth stretching your legs and walking here from downtown to see a bit more of the city, thss viewpoint will really shine when you can see the volcanoes and not just the city through the arches

Located 2 km from the center of Arequipa, this plaza housed a Sunday Market the day I visited. Many market stalls selling a huge array of vegetables, some huge, were set up. On the other side of the square, is the all important architectural Church of St John the Baptist built in 1750 closed to tourists that Sunday morning. Completing the square is the “mirador” a series of arches built in the 19th century on which there are inscriptions from local Poets. From here you gain great views of the city and Misti Volcano.
