A visit to remote villages and spectacular landscapes. The drive from Arequipa to Chivay takes you through the antiplano and to a height of 4900M - almost 17000' - past llamas and alpaca - the condor cross was amazing - giant birds floating on air...More

Beautiful valley. We saw many condors at Mirador Cruz del Condor in the morning. The canyon was so deep we could not see the bottom. Ancient farming terraces, and beautiful scenery. The nearby volcano was spewing smoke the entire week we were there. I am...More

This is an amazing place to visit. Make sure you do the early morning viewing of the Condors flying, it is a fantastic sight to see. The variety of what you see here is incredible, well worth the drive.

Visually a very dramatic area. Add the condors in and you have a winner. The only downside is that you have to compete with all the other 1,000 people to get a view. Such is the life of a tourist.

We arranged this tour though our hotel in Arequipa, and were not disappointed. We chose to stay at the Tradicion Colca in Yanque, rather than a hotel in Chivay where its mostly dry, dusty, and rather touristy. The hotel was very clean, served very nice...More

My husband and I signed up for a tour to hike the Colca Canyon. In my mind we were hiking down to the valley to the Oasis to spend the night and then back out again the next day. The reality was several hours hiking...More

Took a very early morning bus to the Colca Canyon on a cloudy day ham hopes to see the condors. After waiting a short while, they started to fly. Many adolescent condors flying today with a few adults thrown in. Had several sitting on rocks...More

It's a bit of a drive away but definitely worth the time in the coach. The canyon itself is very impressive and the giant condors are great to see.

Some people talk about doing a 2 day trip to the canyon but not hiking. My wife and I are very interested in visiting and seeing the canyon but neither of us can really hike, she has asthma and I have arthritis in my hip. Can anyone recommend a trip we could do or a good company. We are currently in Arequipa but can obviously move to another location like Chivay if that is a better starting point. Thanks!!!

You can do a two day trip without hiking. Your itinerary might look like this. Take tour bus from Arequipa to Chivay on day one, spend some afternoon/evening in Chivay. Next day a tour bus will bring you along the Colca... More
