This was a fantastic experience thanks in large part to our guide, Edgar. He led a group of 14, with his assistant guide Roxanna, and built a wonderful team spirit. He was knowledgeable, extremely safety conscious, great fun and showed great concern for how everyone was coping. He was the best. The tour was extremely well organised and I recommend... More

Experienced hikers and backpackers don't need a guide to experience this beautiful canyon. The trail is straight forward and we'll maintained. Tapay is a quiet and charming place to spend the first night. The only down side is that the permit is overpriced at about 20 dollars.

1. Do not go there if you want to see something unique: there a lot of places in the Alps, in the Himalaya, in the Rocky Mountains and all around the world that given offer you the same or a better scenario. 2. Don't go there because you wish to see Condors flying in the Canyon at your feet: more... More

I travel to Peru several times a year and heard so many great things about the Colca Canyon - that it's the most beautiful place in Peru. Well, after several hours of driving...to see a few condors flying around the canyon. It was interesting to see and learn a bit about the terraced agricultural landscape (pre-Incan times) but the truth... More

Don't do this in a day trip. Take the time and spend a night at the bottom of the canyon at the Oasis. The walk down is hard in your knees, so you need a pretty good fitness base, and good shoes. The walk on the second day is walking straight up 1100m elevation and takes just under 3 hours... More

We visited whilst on a guided tour, it is the place where you will see the condors, therefore it is must see with spectacular views, however you may reach heights of 16,500 ft - which resulted in several of us getting altitude sickness. Take a packed lunch and enjoy the scenery, be careful in the sun as in this open... More

Didn't really see a condors due to off-season time, but view is great and it's quite impressing. Road is bumpy and it took about 2 hours to get there. I guess it's one of those "must see" places in Peru.

We were very lucky to see lots of condors on our visit to the Colca Canyon. The whole area is very scenic and I would recommend a visit.
