This historic city had such an impact on us that we decided we would definitely return in the near future. The historic old town of Arequipa was built with volcanic sillar rock and was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in December 2000. The architecture is like a fusion of European and local native tastes. The result is simply remarkable. If you can, do stay at least two nights here to explore this wonderful city. Highly Recommended!

The harassment you suffer while walking around the center by vendor os tours, sometimes on their own or carrying dos or cats souvenirs or restaurants, apart from it, the ladies who carry around baby sheep or alpacas to make you take a picture of them, in exchange of money, please do not accept that, that way you'll be supporting animal abuse and animal exploitation, that's is really awful, I suggest you all buy tours to the agencies you were recommended, by other travelers, or if you want to buy souvenirs, do it a the shops you may find all along the way, that is gonna be better for you.

Cute and small. It makes you forget about all the horrible views and traffic entering the city. Downtown it’s manicured and clean, walkable. Great bar scene.
