Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

My visit to the Museum was incredible. This museum keeps many ancient things that have to do with religion. There are sculptures, paintings and very beautiful objects.
I was very surprised at how pretty things are here. I also learned about the history of the convent and its importance to the city.
In the end, I went to a store where they sold things to remember my visit. I found special souvenirs that I bought to take home. In short, this museum is a place worth visiting to learn about the history and culture of the region.

This was one of our favorite places in our month long visit to Cuenca. The simplicity of the architecture is captivating. The rooms on 2 floors surrounding the courtyards where the planting was being enhanced and cleaned up, are full of interesting and nicely displayed items. Even if you are not religious, one can find a lot to appreciate in the beauty and history of some of the items displayed. You can think of the people who made them, the reasons for them to be. The elaborate diorama style displays had more to see than there was time to fully investigate. Especially touching were the toys brought in as part of a girl's dowry as 12 was the age they could be accepted.
I try to put myself into the history of what I am viewing as I travel and not judge other people and other times.

My husband and I were looking for something to do on a late Monday morning and decided to try this museum. The entrance is on the west side of Hermano Miguel. There is a $2.50 entrance fee, but it is worth it. There are approximately 20 small rooms containing artifacts showing the history of the convent through the paintings, statues and other artifacts. Don't miss going through the two small gardens - one leads to the old kitchen and the other leads to the burial crypts.

This colonial convent, dating to the 17th century, is a fascinating piece of Cuenca history, and something not to be missed by anyone with an interest in the local culture. The collections of art and artifacts are very well curated, and some, like the collection of toys that the young girls brought when they entered the convent, give an intimate glimpse into their lives. There is a collection of the famous Gaspar Sangurima crucifixes, along with an impressive gathering of religious art. Don't miss the gardens and the kitchen.

I wouldn't call this a "must," but it is a fascinating place to visit if you're interested in historical things.

Also a must visit in Cuenca. This 400 plus years old building its very well preserved and you can imagine how the nuns had to be living there.

Though O had visited before, I come back always with pleasure.
The building is a testimony of the past but also a view of nuns life still present just on the other side of its building walls.
We will get familiar of monastic life but also see many interesting objects, not only religious ones.

The Museo del Monasterio de las Conceptas (Convent Museum) has a very non-descriptive entrance. It’s amazing the size of the monastery behind the doors (taking up almost an entire city block). The museum will enlighten you to the life and customs of the nuns in a monastery that was founded in 1599. They have life-size dioramas that show the daily life of the sisters. The collection of religious artifacts and art is amazing.
They even have a selection of toys that were brought in by the girls (young as 12) that were entering the convent. It’s nice that the signs are also in English, so you have the opportunity to learn about the lives of the nuns. The entrance fee was $2.50, and the museum entrance is on Hermano Miguel between Juan Jaramillo and Presidente Cordova.

This beautiful building has been renovated to house a lovely collection of sacred 17th-
19th century art. The renovation has made it safe, with well lit display areas, carefully tended court gardens, clean restrooms but has not altered the charm and historic value of the building itself. Well worth the modest admission price, even in a city full for free museums.

$3.50 per person to enter, and takes about 30-45 minutes to see everything if you take the time to read the placards.
Paintings, chests, furniture, dolls, cooking utensils, robes, statues, crosses and more dating back to 1500's to early 1900's.
You will find it interesting if you enjoy: Antiques, artifacts, history, Catholicism, religious art, architecture.
The museum is still used to house nuns, although they dwell where the public cannot see them.
All said and done, we were pleased to be able to see such a wonderful piece of unique history.
