The Cathedral and adjacent Parque Calderon are a must see in Cuenca. Beautiful architecture! We missed the tour up the dome, but will definitely do it next time. The adjacent plaza has mixed use businesses, including nice eateries and a few good shops for artisan...More

I am not ranking this very high because I have seen many ,many cathedrals and while this one is nice as well as big, I don't think it has anything special. But if you go do go and sit in the very pleasant plaza in...More

Many people pay to go to the top, stay for 5 minutes tops, then head back down. I say bring up a book to read, do a photo shoot, or listen to some music. Really nice around sunset on a clear day.

Don't miss this cathedral when in Cuenca. My time was both short and rushed and I was disappointed that my Ecuadorean travel agent did not arrange my trip that allowed me more time to explore not only this church, but indeed this beautiful city. The...More

This church has a mixture of styles mainly based on the length it took it to be fished (which is not yet). Even if you are not Catholic, it is a must seen place in Cuenca, to be able to understand the local culture better...More

This cathedral is awesome. The inside has a statue of the pope, and is very much active with singers, etc. while you are inside. Make sure you pay a few dollars to head to the roof, but be cautious of the wild fence they've put...More

A church you must experience yourself. Words and pictures do not convey the emotional experience you will have upon your visit. For a couple of dollars you can climb to top. 254 steps with incredible views as a prize.

A must see in Cuenca, this gigantic church has a lovely courtyard to the side which often has a shopping market (itself not worth the visit) inside. Also next to the church are many restauraunts and some shops on the second level. For a good...More

The New Cathedral is splendid to visit, for calm amidst beauty during the week AND for a vibrant, warm, musical and welcoming liturgy any Sunday. The church is standing room only at Sunday Mass, filled with all ages of warm Ecuadorians!
