Located at the center of Cuenca. It is the typical South American plaza. Beautiful, well conserved, clean, impeccable railings, metal benches, etc. A nice place to enjoy an afternoon, but ideal at night as ilumination and ambience is nicer. You can visit the old and new cathedrals, museums, restaurants, Government offices, Palace of Justice and other sites. Recommended.

Very tranquil and well kept park. Nice area downtown. Grab some coffee and just sit on one of the benches and enjoy the area. Beautiful spot for pictures as well.

Plaza Calderon is nice to sit and people watch, read, or eat gelato from Angelus. It also seems to be the meeting place and drop-off point for the city tour buses.

Many of the people were older men, and you can get some AWESOME icecream for less than a dollar. If you have some extra time in... More

One of the best plazas in South America with loads of places to sit, people watch, relax, and enjoy the culture of Cuenca Ecuador. Make time to spend in the heart of this gorgeous city in the Andes.

One can take a breather from seeing other local sights here. The tourist office is nearby - be sure and ask them for a map of Cuenca. Some there also speak English. Lots of restaurants nearby as well.

Interesting plaza surrounded by a park, basilica, commercial buildings and eateries. The architecture surrounding is a mixture of old and new.

The history of this main plaza in Cuenca is interesting to it's fight for Independence. The central location of it in Cuenca and the history ofr the trees when they were originally planted and where they came from.
