Very Nice Museum

This is a very nice museum slightly off the beaten path in the centro historico. I would highly recommend making an appointment for a tour (telf, 2283908). The tour guide that I had was extremely knowledgable about the life and times of Manuela Saenz and Simon Bolivar and put their story in an engaging historical context that made it fun.

Great museum of a little known individual in history. Great staff. It helps if you know a bit about her life before heading to the museum. A great book in English is "For Glory and Bolívar: The Remarkable Life of Manuela Sáenz," by Pamela Murray. It will help make you appreciate her role in history more. Enjoy

My experience at the museum of Manuela Sáenz was good. I followed the instructions suggested by them. I was greeted by a friendly lady and I explained my interest in having a guide. She proposed historic view a video on the topic and to accept it. In the meantime I made an appointment with the guide, and it was spectacular.... More

Although it is called a museum of love because it focuses on the object of Simon Bolivar's attention, I was kind of disspaointed by the amount of lovey-dovey things they had! I also was fortunate and had a lot of time to kill while in Quito for 10 weeks, and I only paid the student price of $1.50 and I... More

When I searched "Ecuador" on my University website before coming, one of the books that came up was an exchange of love letters between Manuela Saenz and Simon Bolivar in their original Spanish, which were absolutely beautiful and well worth the time spent translating certain high-level vocabulary words. I then went out and rented another book about Manuela Saenz's life... More

We went here because of reviews on trip advisor. I had never heard of Manuela Saenz before, but our guide was excellent and told us the story of someone who could be called Simon Bolivar's right hand 'man'. I was intrigued enough that I bought a book on Amazon.com to read more about her.

I did a report on her for university so was very excited when i found out there was a museum. It was more expensive than I was thinking, but my whole family thought itw as worth it! It doesn't only have information on 'La Libertadora del Libertador', btu also on Bolivar himself, other heros of the independence wars, a firearms... More

Our museum guide did a magnificent job of bringing to life an era of Latin American history that most North Americans know little to nothing about. Manuela Saenz seems to have been a most interesting woman. It's too bad the museum doesn't sell at least a little booklet about her life in English.

I'm a student here in Quito and because of my study I was interested in this museum. I want to be a nacional tourguide in Ecuador and so this was very interesting. I've been to several places (of course) but this was one of the best I've ever been. Well not one of the best, THE BEST. Not only because... More
