Good start to your trip in Ecuador
Sep. 2020
I was here with to friends and we had a stunning time. So many plants and birds. and insects, ... . It was our second full day in the country and gave us a good impression of what to expect of the Ecuador outside of the Capital.

Surprisingly Fun and Beautiful

A great off-the-beaten-path destination. Amazing cacti (seriously!). Well worth an hour visit if you have the time.

Interesting place to spend an afternoon
Oct. 2019
We visited one afternoon while checking out Parque Carolina. The garden is large with an inexpensive entrance fee. The orchid greenhouses and the bonsai trees were particular highlights. Most of the written information is in Spanish.

Peace at the edge of the city

Get a taxi to the gardens, there is also a park for locals and an indoor shopping centre within a minutes walk to make a whole day of the trip. A feast of plants to keep any gardening enthusiastic busy.

One of the best botanical gardens I've visited
Sep. 2019 • Solo
I didn't expect much because someone had told me it was small. I didn't think it was that small but it was jammed with really interesting plants. I'm not an expert on plants but I loved looking at all the species. Carnivorous plants, orchids, bonsi, roses. Delicious scents, fascinating flowers. Loved it. Spent 3 hours there.

Staff were very friendly and welcoming and gave an English information pamphlet.

Super cheap entrance fee.

Must place to visit
Aug. 2019 • Friends
This place is inside the Carolina Park. Entry fee was 3,50. If you walk on your own you get a map of the park, which you return at the end of your tour. There were plants and trees of ecuadorian different ecosystems. There were nice orchid house, carnivore house, rose garden in which at this time of the year only few were in bloom and japanese bonsai trees. Also there was nice picnic area.

Beautiful garden! An oasis to recharge your soul!
May 2019
Beautiful garden with a nice collection of bonsai, cactus, roses and many other types of plants.
It’s small enough that it can be seen leisurely in 2-3 hrs. Totally worth the time.

Beautiful variety of gardens
Nov. 2018 • Friends
We explored the Botanical Gardens on a Monday morning and had the place mostly to ourselves other than a cheerful young school group with their teachers. The paths in the gardens meander back and forth though good signage does allow one to track down the washrooms! There were several specific garden areas including local jungle trees and shrubs, an incredible succulent garden, a Japanese bonsai garden which had a large number of unique specimens, a large orchidarium, a building full of carnivorous plants and my personal favourite a beautiful butterfly garden. The butterfly garden was one of the best I have seen as an amateur photographer - butterflies were easy to photograph - the gardens also were home to various birds making a very enjoyable morning walk.

Very relaxing morning
Apr. 2019 • Couples
My boyfriend and I spent a relaxing (and cheap) hour or so in the botanical garden. There's lots of varieties of plants and it felt like a little oasis in the city. My only suggestion would be to have a clearer suggested route to see everything, as we were zigzagging a bit all over the place.

Beautiful flowers and fauna
Mar. 2019 • Couples
My boyfriend and I loved visiting the botanical garden on a Sunday afternoon. The entrance fee was reasonable ($3.50/person). There were several gorgeous greenhouses that you shouldn't miss with a variety of plants. Don't miss the lovely Japanese bonsai garden at the end. You have to go over a bridge that crosses over one of the walkways of the park. Overall it was a great place to visit in Quito!
