We rode the train as part of a private tour....an engineering feat and a fun excursion. You see the countryside, enjoy the views, and marvel at the 45-degree zigzag descent. The town of Alausi is charming. A local cultural show displays dances, dress, and music.

NIice day out of city for a birthday celebration. Food included in upper priced ticket was just adequate and you can buy food at all the stops along the way. Would do that another time. Highlight was passing through areas that you could see daily...More

We travelled from Quito to El Boliche. The weather was good so excellent views of volcanoes all the way. Great to travel with local families not just tour groups. Had lunch at Machachi station which was plain but well cooked food. Commentar6 useful.

Well organized and clean comfortable train. Sit back and watch the city disappear and the countryside begin. Train was full of families, nice to hear the sound of kids. A clear day, we saw all the volcanoes with no cloud cover, fantastic. Our guide was...More

I went on a field trip with coworkers from Quito to Machachi and part of the fun was enjoying the slow but nice train ride to Machachi and El Boliche. You can see animals, local farms and flowers that will delight your trip. Once you...More
