There is so much to see here at the Plaza of San Fransico! First, the highlight is the church itself. It rivals any church I have ever set foot into! No amount of skilled labor, gold leaf or time and money was spared on this beautiful interior! The entrance and plaza grounds are guarded by 1000 pigeons to rival San Marcos... More

Stayed here during the Fiestas de Quito. It is in an excellent concert venue with a plethora of vibrant, Ecuadorian night life. Many musicians are attracted to this location and history lovers. One of the oldest plazas in Ecuador.

It is a pity it is under construction now, but I know it is a lovely place. Saw a little bit of it from Casa Gangotena though.

Nice to see if you are walking around. To bad they are now building over here, so it looked a little bit of a mess.

There is a metro stop construction now, so you cant admire the plaza. You can still go to the steps of San Francisco church and admire the stone atrium. Iam curious to see how the plaza will look once construction is over

. This is the best plaza among the main plazas in Quito's Old town (Plaza de Armas, Plaza Santo Domingo). Great place to grab a coffee and people watch. Small catacombs next to the Cafe can be visited for free as they house artisan shops. Very interesting monastery and beautiful, lively church with gold leaf engravings. A MUST!

This quad has a very pretty church with a unique story: Legend says it was built by the devil himself, now why would he do that? you have to come and find out! On the quad's ground you will find ancient magma stones probably over 500 years old. The church has a old Spanish Style with a lot of cool... More

This one of the nicer plazas in Quito...especially so since this is a city that does not have many of them. It contains a dramatic backdrop of rising hills along with the imposing facade of the eponymous cathedral. It's located somewhat just beyond the core perimeter of the old town (Centro Histórico) and, for this reason, is perhaps better left... More

There was construction, so we didn't get the full effect. Was nice to see a big square, as in other Latin American countries, as it gives you a day in the life. People feeding pigeons, selling tripe, shining shoes... and people watching. A good entrance to the church and monetary.

We enjoyed our time visiting this busy bustling place! Lots of sights to see, and we felt like we were "soaking up the local color" or in other words, seeing the "real" Quito. All of the locals were friendly and polite!
