Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The building is beautiful and rich in history but now it looks more like a small shopping centre, which is a shame. It overlooks the Plaza Grande, when we were there at the entrance there were shoe shiners and ladies sewing and selling their knitting. Inside on the ground floor there are several souvenir shops and restaurants, we had the impression that the restaurants were fast food, however on the first floor (from the square there is a staircase immediately to the left) there is an excellent La Vid restaurant, highly recommended, better to reserve if you want a table by the windows. On the ground floor, still inside, there is a hairdressing salon, the owner is really good and I would also say very professional; got me back in order quickly with great products and for just a few dollars: Amandy Professional Salon Salon - PeluquerÃa & Spa de uñas. Its living room overlooks a beautiful internal courtyard that I otherwise would not have noticed.
It's worth a stop, try to browse inside, the atmosphere is relaxing and quiet and the La Vid restaurant is excellent, when we were there there was live music, a good saxophonist was playing

This palace has been converted into an area with multiple land uses. There is a food court as well as many kinds of shops! The food court is great and has a central plaza that is conducive to relaxation. The whole place is very aesthetic and well designed and some of the best restaurants in the city can be found here. The ambiance is relaxing and quiet, but sociable.

This is one of three important buildings on the Plaza Grande. If you don't look up the you might first notice the shoe shine fellows lind up in each portico - and they are always busy! Inside the columns people are selling water, fruits etc. It's almost always a-bustle. But do look up. One of the first things you'll notice is a restaurant, its windows brightly decorated. Now, walk under that area and you'll enter a more or less central entrance. SEVERAL eateries varying from fast food to cafe to full-fledged restaurants can be found here, on the ground as well as on the upper levels. There are also shops, but for me the prime attraction was a good choice of places to eat. I stayed at a hotel just off Plaza Grande, and at the end of long days of touring in town or out, I found myself tired and not wanting to go too far afield for a bit to eat. Thanks to the Palacio Arzobispal I found three very different restaurants at which to eat during my week-long stay in Quito.
If you face the building and look left, walk to the end of it and you'll find a rather posh eatery, and if if you look right, walk to the end of the building and turn left at the corner. Halfway down the block is another entrance to the palace. Up the stairs you'll find still more places to eat!
It is a fine use of old space for new projects, helping to make the case, as I've argued elsewhere in my reviews of the city, to stay in the historic center. I felt much more alive here than in my wanderings through the new town, and in large part it was due to this fine old palace.

This used to be the Archbishop's place, but now turned into a food court? The building is neat, but not the biggest fan of this new change...

Just in the same area at Plaza Independencia, the white building where you see a rows of shoe shiner (cleaner) there is a door where you can access to get inside this place. The Archbishop's Palace which is now in its primal cozy restaurants. We were here early morning and some of the shops isn't open yet.
The inner court is photogenic surrounded by balconies and decorated with flowers. We stroll around started from below and go up you will find some cute shops selling local stuff and souvenirs. Very cozy inside looking at it look like homes. There is an atm machine for withdrawing cash inside

I am writing a review because, although there isn't much to see in the Palace itself. It is very pretty from the outside. However, there is a fabulous restaurant associated with the Palace. The service is super slow, but the dishes are delicious, especially the "surprise" ice cream desserts. Skip in the Palace from inside, but make a reservation to enjoy a lunch or dinner there.

Formerly the residence of the archbishop, it has been converted to a food and retail court. There are a number of shops on the street level facing Plaza Grande and a nice and inviting three story food court of restaurants in its center.

Unlike the archbishop's palace in for instance Bogota, this palace has been converted into a commercial center. Perhaps indicative for the declining power of the Roman Catholic church, the rooms where the clergy used to administer their diocese are now restaurants, bars and souvenir shops. For me it just does not feel right.

There is a great artistic tourist shop to the left of the ATM. What is its name and contact information? I'd like to have them send me some items.
