Guapulo is a beautiful place on the side of a very very tall hill. It has a popular church and also is full with hispters and arts pubs and restaurants. A great spot to go by night,

Guapulo is unique since its narrows streets wind down a steep hillside. With much "to do", early Conquistadores set off into the Amazon jungle with hundreds of Indigenous "porters" (who never survived the arduous jungle life. Still a walk down to the beautiful church of Guapulo is worth it. You will survive however short of breath.

Bohemian, arts, restaurant. Can start with the Mirador and walk down to the Guapulo Monastey/ church, either by the steps or by the road. Be aware that church is often closed. Beneath the Mirador a wonderful vegetarian restaurant with the incredible view. The road is cobble stones. Further down there is the Guapulo park to take a walk.

This church is a special place. Hundreds of years old, you can feel the history and the faith that built it.

You can walk from Hotel Quito down the cobble road to the plaza of Guapulo, with excellent views of the valley and Cordillera Oriental. follow in footsteps of Orellana and Pizarro. The church has some interesting paintings.

This was once a Catholic Church and monastery. Today the church is still active but the monastery has been turned into a University Satelite campus. However, the church is small by most standards but truly magnificent on all levels. A popular choice in Quito for Christenings and Weddings.

Worth a top to check out the amazing views over the valleys with the volcanos in the background. On a clear day, it's spectacular.
