Huge and beautiful church the structure inside and out is outstanding. The art work and generally the inside of the church is superb and the atmosphere is very moving.

Gorgeous church on a lovely plaza. Excellent restaurant on the lower plaza by the way. A great photo opportunity as much of the historic district is within easy view.

Unlike most of the other churches I went into, this has not been well cared for. I believe they are working on it but it shows its wear and tear. Also unlike the others, there was no cost to enter the church. I believe that is fitting with the Franciscan heritage of the church. Next door there is a museun... More

Inside the church, (you are not allowed to take photos), you'll be able to see the statue of the Virgin Mary that was the inspiration for the iconic El Panecillo, or Winged Virgin, that is a familiar part of Quito's skyline. The church is more run down than some of the others, but still worth seeing. We didn't take the... More

Beautiful church with a lot of history and amazing architecture. Maybe not as lush a other churches in town but definitely worth a visit.

One of the highlights of Old Town Quito. Recommend doing a tour to get a better understanding of its history and special features.

The church is magnificent, but don't stop there. Visit the Convento and museum next door as well. For a very small fee you get a very interesting free tour (in Spanish), including a visit into the beautiful choir area of the church, from where you can look down into the main aisle. Also see the inner courtyard of the Convento.

You'll probably say wow when you walk in the door. Bling central and definitely done with style. In somewhat a dilapidated condition but definitely worth the visit. Cloisters ( convent) next door an absolute must.

The San Francisco Church is a convent and the building has beautiful wood carved ceiling and decoration. The church has a beautifully manicured courtyard with a fountain in the middle of it.

We visited on Ash Wednesday and were impressed with a service and many faithful. The site is stunning. The indigenous faces on the ceiling next to the entrance are moving and wondrous. Fine place and well worth the visit. Free.
