"There’s a reason the South American Andes is spoken about with awe, and the cone of Ecuador’s Cotopaxi volcano is the icing on this mountainous hunk of cake. Scraping the sky at more than 5800 metres above sea level, the stratovolcano is currently snoozing after chucking a tantrum in late 2015, when it spat smoke and ash into the air. Rug up for altitude and thunder down its foothills on a 30-kilometre cycling trip with Biking Dutchman Tours. A back-up vehicle will carry you up high, where you’ll swing onto the saddle of a 21-speed mountain bike and head off-road, winding through ancient lava fields and past wild horses grazing in grassy plains studded with wildflowers. Stop at Incan ruins, enjoy a homemade picnic lunch, and spot the snowy giant reflected on the surface of Limpiopungo Lake... " GET LOST MAGAZINE

Dear Bek I remember fondly when you came into our office and told me with a big smile: “I feel like I’ve known you for a long time”! Funny, huh? How humans can relate to each other, even being thousands of kilometers away from each other! I reckon, that I felt the exact same way about you. Maybe the dozen... More

A really exhilarating and challenging day out biking down from Cotopaxi. I have never mountain biked before but Fernando and Dylan were excellent guides, lots of explanation and good equipment. Be prepared for some teeth rattling sections and take lots of layers plus a hat that will fit under your biking helmet (provided). Their web site says that this trip... More

Let me start apologizing for such a belayed reply. I usually try to answer in a blink of an eye. However these have been challenging weeks for the BIKING DUTCHMAN and for myself, and therefor I haven’t had the energy to reply. Challenging because we have won an open Contest organized by the Ministery of Tourism of ECUADOR, to take... More

Words cannot describe how much I would recommend doing a tour with the Biking Dutchman (BD). I heard about the BD through a blog I read online, and decided to go to their office in Quito to learn more about my options. The co-owner, Ana, was very friendly, and spoke English perfectly which made the booking procedure super smooth. I... More

The four day trip was great. The office is very responsive to questions and super friendly, great to deal with beforehand. Fernando is a fabulous guide and we had loads of fun with him. The details are well organized, accommodations are simple but very comfortable, the homemade food is delicious and bikes are in good repair. It's more of a... More

My sister and I highly recommend booking with Biking Dutchman. We are just resting up from a day tour at Cotopaxi and it was a perfect experience and an amazing, fun day!!! Did the 4 day bike tour, Feb 18-21, and had a great experience. Quito to Banos. The weather cooperated big time for this time of year too, which is huge! Fernando, our guide for the trip was AWESOME! He made the trip even better. Now, this isn't a "true" hardcore bicycle tour if that's what your looking for, but it... More

I recently did the one day Cotopaxi downhill mtb ride with the biking Dutchman. The ride was pitched to us as a 32k ride with a max elevation of 4500m and minimum elevation of 3200m. Ride time was said to be approximately 3 hours. The actual ride was however rather different. The top 4 to 6 corners of the road... More
