Right at Portales metro stop. A working pier but you can buy individual fish to take home and cook. Friendly folks, one guy even spoke some broken English.

Great board walk for a walk, especially on a nice day. Seeing all the sea lions sunning themselves on the remains of the old concrete pier was a bonus. Worth the effort to get there for a peaceful stroll.

Enjoyed walking the boardwalk of Caleta Portales. Jump on a big boulder along the water and sit and watch the sea lions play on the abandoned piece of bridge that is a reminisce of an earthquake. Sunset is beautiful!

This is the best local fish market. Depending what you're out after pick your days carefully. It's not a place to go for lunch but more to get your lunch ingredients, even if there are some places that serve food in the neighbourhood. But it’s...More

After you walk down the "tunnel" where the locals sell their day's catch, walk up onto the high boardwalk and cross over and down to the actual pier. Here, you can see fishermen actually pulling up their boats onto the pier and sometimes loading/unloading fish...More

Caleta Portales is lesser known to most foreign tourists. This is a highly recommended spot if one is in Valparaiso or Vina del Mar. It has a local market, fish market, 2 piers with numerous seals and sea birds and of course seafood restaurants. All...More
