Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

At the southern end of Parquemet Santiago. You can get gondola or the funicular to this peak depending on which direction you are coming from. You don't actually need a ticket to enter the park, so free if you are prepared to walk. Tourists come up for the views and the locals to pay homage to "the shrine". At this end of the park there are cafes.

An easy gondola ride takes you to the summit topped by a collosal statue that oversees not-to-be-missed panoramic views of Santiago and its surroundings. The statue and its church date over a hundred years. A "must" attraction that appears to be very popular with the locals.

Chose to walk the hill and enjoyed every step in this vibrant community space. The reward is getting to the top and a close up view of this. We were there to enjoy mass and music. Really special experience. Oh, we had some yummy gelato at the top, and for a few pesos, we took a ride in the arial tram to the bottom. Beautiful views of Santiago. I would repeat this excursion if we get to return to Santiago.

The funicular was out of action during our stay in Santiago so we decided to walk to the top and although it took about 1,5 hours the view was well worth it. The way down was a breeze compared to the walk up. Very moving statue.

Took the quick cable car ride up and down. Was a little overcast but we still had a beautiful view of the city. Lots of locals. Statue was very nice. Word to the wise... don't take one of the taxis waiting when you get off the cable car. Going there, it cost $10 USD from our hotel. Going back to hotel the cost was $60 USD and then the taxi driver switched the money denominations I gave him as I stepped out of the cab He said I still owed $40 USD more and got argumentative. I took a picture of his license plate and told him I would report him. With that, he pulled away. I was in South America for 2 weeks and this was the only bad thing that happened. People all through my travels were wonderful and I had a great time.

This was the highlight of our visit up the hill. The view was very limited due to the smog, but my wife enjoyed the church and sanctuary.

The statue is located in the middle of big park where you can do anything. Alone, with friends or with family.
You can either take the funicular, cable car, hike or bike different routes up to the hill. Once you get up on the hill you will be amazed with the Santiago view you will get. Worth doing it if you are here as a tourist.

I hiked up to the statue. I discovered that the tramway and cable care are closed on Mondays. I hiked the dirt trail from the Funicular and zoo entrance and then down the road to the car entrance on Pedro de Valdivia Nte road. From there I walked back around the base of the mountain where I had entered. In total it was about 8 miles. I had considered going to Santiago Tower to see the view but it is quite expensive and this is actually higher.

This sanctuary has the best possible views of Santiago. It is breathtaking to see all of Santiago laid out before you with the Andes as a backdrop. More importantly, it is a wonderful shrine to The Immaculate Conception. As such it is a perfect spot for prayer, reflection and rest. The best day to visit is Monday, the crowds are smallest then.
