Is easy to get there by the subway. This Temple has an amazing architecture. "Del Carmen" museum is really cheap, so you can take a look about the story of Chile Independence and also about the Temple. The viewpoint at the top of the temple, is breathtaking. Definetly a good experience and I recommend it to go with the family or... More

If you going to Santiago, you shouldn't miss it! The Templo is amazing. It is located in Maipu, around 30 minutes from the downtown if you take the subway. The architecture is simply beautiful. It is not a touristic area, but you will love!

We arrived in Santiago but needed to wait at the airport for a number of hours until the rest of our family arrived. Wanted to see 'something' but not go into the City. Took a taxi to the Templo in Maipu (taxi arranged at the airport counter...20,000clp each way, roughly $80AUD in total). Spent about 20 minutes at the Templo.... More

Maipu lies to the south of Santiago and is easily accessible using the excellent metro train system. The 30 minute ride will take you through suburbs well off the tourist trail and is an interesting insight in itself. The massive votive temple was commenced in the 1940s and is made from reinforced concrete. In its grounds are the ruins of... More

This is a beautiful cathedral. It is worth the 30 minute metro ride from central Santiago. Get onto the green line and ride it to the end Maipu. When you exit the metro you can see the cathedral down the street. It is a bit of a walk to the grounds of the cathedral. When you arrive you realize how... More

If it was a bit of a toss-up before, whether to slog all the way to the end of Metro line 5 to see the Templo Votivo de Maipu, there's now another reason to make the effort. In addition to the ruins of the original building, and the soaring modern-architecture cathedral that replaces it, they've just opened a mirador way... More

I was excited to see this temple as I had heard many great things about it, and I was not disappointed. This site consists of a finished temple, as well as the remains of the first temple that was to be constructed but was never finished. The inside of the finished structure is gorgeous, and the plaques very informative.
