It looks like a very beautiful neighborhood, with several bars, restaurants and shops. I went to visit on Sunday, 21/04, on a tour the tourist guide informed about Vendimia 2024. There were several stalls from very well-known Chilean wineries among others that were less so, but also with good wines. They sold a glass for tasting plus tickets for tasting and I decided to buy the one with the least amount of tickets, which was a glass with 4 tastings from any chosen stall and this cost me 16 thousand pesos, around R$ 90.00 (I thought this was a steep price , as it was a tasting and not glasses of wine). Everything was beautiful and lively, it was around 19:20 hrs, and I tasted a wine that 19:20 hrs, and I tasted a wine that I didn't know and I followed the path of the stalls, wanting to discover and then taste where I would be most interested and then dinner in the same neighborhood, as as I walked, I noticed that there were several attractive restaurants. Unfortunately, around 7:30 pm to 7:40 pm, there were already several tents that no longer had tastings, I found two that I would like to taste a Rosé wine that was displayed on the counter, and the representative informed that she would not open the bottle of rosé! I followed and when I returned, I had used 5 tickets, as I had purchased 2 glasses and a total of 8 tickets for me and my husband, and to my surprise and frustration. This was around 8:00 pm or at most 8:10 pm, no I found more stalls open, they were all dismantling at the same moment, I was left with 3 tickets without anywhere to use them!!! So, I remember well, I arrived at a bar and restaurant at 8:23 pm (I kept the time because I thought it was absurd), and there was a rope closing the entrance, so I called the waitress who saw us standing there and didn't come to answer, I asked if she had already it was closed, as I saw people there and it was early. She replied that she would only allow entry if it was just to eat, as they would no longer serve alcoholic drinks. We stopped at this place because we thought we would eat beautiful meat with great wine, after all we were in Chile and at a sale! But, I was hungry, I went in and had a Coca-Cola ( ), but I remained curious, as the bar was full of alcoholic drinks, Beer and I saw it being served to those who were already there, and I asked the waiter who explained to me that they would no longer be serving drinks. from 8:30 pm in that neighborhood, as they only have permission (patent) to sell alcoholic drinks for the day! This was my experience with Vendimia in the Italian Quarter, and the first of several places I've been to that charge for tasting specifically during the grape festival.

Barrio Italia is a historic neighbourhood in Santiago, Chile. The neighbourhood contains stores, and all varieties of restaurants. If you’re staying in Santiago, and looking for a great way to spend an afternoon or evening as this area is nice to walk and the people are so friendly!

We met the Quartier Italia last night in Santiago and we feel very sorry for it, because it is one of the best places in Santiago to walk in the late afternoon/night. Very well visited neighborhood, various types of restaurants, bars, shops, craft fairs. An excellent astral for walking and sitting for dinner. I suggest staying in the Bairro Italia near a metro station (Santa Isabel station), very worth it. And, it is not absurd to walk from there to the center, like Cerro Santa Lucia, about 25 minutes walk.

We walked around the neighborhood on the last day of the trip, and it ended up being the walk we enjoyed most. There are several shops with interesting products, and high quality restaurants and bars. When I return to Chile, I will certainly return to Barrio Italia.

Our taxi driver recommended visiting this area for lunch rather than Bellavista and I am glad he did. Great restaurants, antique shops, crafts etc. Trendy and somewhat bohemian neighborhood where old houses have been transformed into stores. Not too big of an area, but worth a stop.

Not so much for travellers because this is like a european / italian design shopping center...not packed in one building but all kind of very nice designed houses converted into shops and cafe´s..
The neighbourhood is growing so at some step it will be worth while to visit it as a tourist.

My wife and I went for a walk in search of a more interesting shopping experience in Santiago so we decided to find Barrio Italia. It's located on Av.Italia, south of Sta. Isabel for two or three blocks. It's actually an awesome place to visit a multitude of artisan shops, have a coffee on a patio or grab a bite of lunch. The shops are wonderful (and this coming from a guy that doesn't like to shop). For those from Toronto, it's like Queen Street West, for those from NYC, it's like Soho boti both instance, much more affordable. I purchased two pairs of handmade shoes while my wife purchase a couple of handmade knitted tops, some jewelry and a pair of shoes. What was even more amazing was that we were the only tourists we saw over a 3 hour period. In preparing for this part of our trip, there was little mention of this area but I'm sure glad I read a few posts on Tripadvisor. It was a great way to experience life in Santiago and visit some wonderful shops.
I'd strongly recommend visiting Barrio Italia.....
....happy exploring
