Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Exciting museum with a lot of interesting history. All the signs in the museum are in Spanish, which is fine as the have audio guides in other languahes. However as we went, the wifi did not work and with European phones the roaming costs would have been outrages. So we walked around trying to figure out what the signes said with the little Spanish we know. Still, very exciting content!

Collection of exhibitions covering Natural History of Chile from a long long time ago up to the present. Well suited to families with children. Free - which makes it even better! Exhibits are modern, well presented and interesting - all in Spanish. Allow 1-2 hours. Ground floor only open when I visited.

In the Parque Quinta Normal, check it out if you have any interest in natural history, particularly of South America. Maybe it will seem kinda tame if you are used to multimedia interactive 3D sensory overloads, but it has its charms and there is stuff to learn and enjoy. If you are in the park, I say why not? It's free too!

Set in a lovely park this is an ideal visit for families with young children. The dioramas - although rather old - nevertheless provide a really good overview of the range of habitats in this amazing country. From the harsh deserts of Atacama in the north to the icy regions of Patagonia in the south there is such diversity of climate, vegetation and animals, captured well in the displays. If you want to know the difference between Vicuna, Llama, Alpaca and Guanaco this is the place for you!

Located in the Quinta Normal Park, it’s a small pleasant museum showing aspect of natural life from Chile and elsewhere. Plan 30-40 min visit. More suitable for kids, but adults can also find an interesting tour. Free entrance. In the same park one cal also see a Science and a Railway museum (modest entrance fee) and the Artequin modern art museum just outside.

Before going to this museum, I read the reviews. Some where positive and others negative. Our take was that it was a good basic museum and it provided us with excellent information about the regions of Chile. This is a vast country, that basically includes every type of bio region in the world. The dioramas were aged, but not bad. They do have an audio headset in English that describes various dioramas in the museum. We speak and read Spanish at an intermediate level, however, some words were new. The museum also has free wifi, so we were able to look up words we didn’t know. We enjoyed the museum and walking around the park. We felt it was time well spent.

It’s free and photography is allowed. Went on a Saturday and there were a lot of families with young children. Nice exhibits but the taxidermy wasn’t that great. Nicely presented exhibits about natural history and especially as it relates to Chile. The entrance starts off with the Big Bang - great beginning. The children loved it all and that’s what it’s all about anyway - AND IT’S FREE !!!

We spend a couple of interesting hours at this well-organized museum and learned a lot from the displays of Chilean natural history.

Located in Parque Quinta Normal, across from the (must-see) Museo de la Memoria y los Derechos Humanos, this museum is well worth the visit afterwards (though perhaps not as a destination alone). I felt many other reviewers were a bit too harsh in their criticism of the museum and its "dated" use of taxidermy and dioramas. The displays throughout (though only in Spanish) are informative and interesting, and provide a very good overview of the flora and fauna of Chile from tip to tip. A great destination for kids, but still "adult" enough (unlike many science museums) that grown-ups feel just as welcome. Admission is free, so in my opinion, well worth an hour or so. The park outside is quite nice as well.
