Once you are in Santiago looking for an adventurous day, I recommend El Morado. We spent our hole day there (walking at least 22km) in a trekking great experience. It is indeed a very great opportunity to enjoy a different day near Santiago!

Beautiful valley with several famous Chile mountains surrounding it. All these peaks must be part of your "mountaineer resume", they worth it. This valley is plenty of different mountaineering activities, like randonee, ice/rock climbing, trekking, camping, etc.
