We were only in Santiago for one afternoon and wanted to get good views of the city and some exercise. Our hotel recommended a visit to Cerro Santa Lucia, and my wife and I enjoyed it. Despite its height, it's a pretty easy walk to the top. The park is designed, it seems, to allow you to explore at your... More

Actually came across this park en route back to the hotel. The fairly vertical trek to the top was very worthwhile and provided amazing panorama views of the entire Santiago skyline. On a clear day, the view extends to the Andes and beyond.

In 1872 this former conquistador military stronghold was converted into a beautiful park. The main two sights I thought were of course the view from up top and the Terraza Neptune fountain. The guidebooks said you needed to register showing ID or passport, but no one asked us for this. The park closes at 7:00 or 8:00 (the guards chase... More

I am native Chilean, however I don't live there often neither do I visit often. But this time I took the pleasure in walking up this cerro. The way steep especially on the staircase, but so worth while. Do keep your pockets secure...as pickpockets are around. But the view from the top is just breath taking...it shows the immensity of... You can get some great views of Santiago and the surrounding area from the top here. There are a lot of stairs. If you don't think you want tooling to the top, you can still get good views from going about mid way up. There are a lot of flowers and it's neat to learn about the story of the... More

Excellent park. Easy stroll to the top that offers magnificent views in a clear, best right after a rainy day, to appreciate Santiago's beauty and the majestic Andes. Best to do it in the middle of the day as the temperature rises and is not too cold as Santiago's temp goes down quickly in the late afternoon.
