We came here expecting a market of fresh produce and meat and fish. Instead we found a bunch of restaurants serving up meat, meat, meat, all competing for our business. We read on line that if you are desperate for a place to eat, come...More

We love Markets and Mercado Central in Santiago is not the exception... If you like fresh fish, this is your place. There are also restaurants inside. The market is for free so if you are close, give the market 30 mins, you will enjoy the...More

Bustling, crowded, noisy in parts - this was a great experience in the heart of the city where it appeared that almost anything could be purchased. Despite the crowds, we felt entirely safe as we wended our way through the multiplicity of stores. Well worth...More

Went at 8:30am to see the fresh fish, but aside from the fish, much of the market’s shops were not open. I have seen much better markets in other countries and a far better fish market elsewhere. Perhaps I came at the wrong time, wrong...More

For someone that loves fish this place is great. Can pick up shopping but also dine at seafood restaurants inside. Do not go if you don't like fishy smells because the entire place skints of it. Dirty floors full of fish juices so don't wear...More

I expected to see souvenirs and other goods inside the market but it’s just a fish market. It stinks and has a lot of aggressive waiters trying to grab you to their restaurants. I heard their food is good but I’m vegetarian. I could have...More

Being a real fish market the sound and smells really brings it to life. The restaurant in the center is worth visiting just for the sake of it. It's not the most expensive place in Santiago but you find Centolla (King Crab) for less elsewhere.

Go to see the range of fresh fish to purchase, have fileted, etc. Endure being stopped by every restaurant staff member trying to get you to eat at their place. They are friendly, but aggressive to get you in their place. Worth walking through to...More

It is a historic place with a range of restaurants, but prices are hi. It lacks products that I think should have like species.

El Galleon was the better of the two. Food good, premises well maintained. Try the spicy garlic prawns .

I think some restaurants, located in Mercado Central, will be opened on Xmas Day, for lunch. But you'd better email or call theml
