We wandered around the market buying tourist tat (fridge magnet, flag patches, etc) and saw all the amazing fresh fish displayed. Couldn't get over the size of the crabs! We are at the Galleon restaurant which was a nice stop for a leisurely lunch.

People really rude and pushing you all the time to buy unnecessary stuff. I felt really unsafe and it is really smelly

After being at the municipal market in Sao Paulo, I didn't want to miss the chance for another market while in Chile. I have to say I wish I would have. Maybe years ago this was a great place but today this was nothing but...More

This market is very likely with a great variety of stalls including seafood, fresh fruits and vegetables. Don't miss the nice restaurants in the centre which serve excellent seafood. You do not see only tourists but also locals. This place is really busy during lunch...More

The Mercado was a huge covered building, filled with fresh fish and a restaurant at the center. An interesting place to walk around, and if we were staying longer, in an apartment with a kitchen, it might've been fun to buy some fish to cook...More

We did not enjoy this experience. I think I was expecting an actual fish market or somewhere to buy goods but its basically one big restaurant. The waiters barely speak English and they're rude and ignore you if they aren't serving your table. I wouldn't...More

A beautiful Victorian covered market. I visited as part of a walking tour of the city. It had a nice feel about it. Lots of beautiful fresh fish on sale and display with lots of shoppers. Crowded but not threatening.

I think some restaurants, located in Mercado Central, will be opened on Xmas Day, for lunch. But you'd better email or call theml
