Apparently a good place for mountain bike lovers. For those (like me) who left cycling behind a long time ago, the place offers a funicular, a cable car and some nice promenades. Just try to avoid the weekend as the place is awfully crowded.

What I particularly like about the Cerro San Cristobal is that one does not have to come to the location "simply" for the purpose of this one sight. While the lookout surely is beautiful and worth the trip, its still just a lookout. But when combined with a trip to Bellavista (probably my favorite neighborhood in Santiago and the La... More

Along the way up this mountain you can see the panorama of Santiago from many different levels and angles. The ascent to the top is quite long- and quite steep at times- but there are lots of rest stop areas. Prettty much anyone at any fitness level can make the climb ( the funicular did not seem to be operational at... More

This was an activity to do, so we did. One day, we took the funicular (a very steep cable car elevator) ride up to San Critobal. There was a line and took about 15 min of waiting time (the line was not out the door at the time). If you've never done it before, it is an inexpensive experience that... More

We are a family of 4 and used the funicular to reduce the hike up and down this beautiful park in Santiago. This was fun itself and we had no wait for either journey. The views are fantastic from the top and there are at least 2 cafes up there.

I would say this is a must for any visitor to Santiago. The funicular up to the top is interesting in itself and the views across the city are excellent - though with the realisation that Santiago is a very polluted city and air quality can restrict the vistas. It's interesting as a cultural and religious icon and from here... More

Good for a nice day out. The ride on the tram up is great with kids. Some people bring chairs/ picnics and spend the whole day there. At peak time be prepared to queue for the funicular

It can be accessed by cable car of funicular - I recommend trying the cable car up (if you are OK with heights and a bit of wind!) and the funicular down. Great views of Santiago (though it's not the prettiest of cities) and, like so many American cities, it has a religious figure looking down (in this case, the... More

This was a short walk from Plaza Baquedano, just at the end of the Bellavista neighborhood. The Funicular up to the top was quite affordable. Once at the top you are rewarded with a breathtaking view of the entire city. A must if you find yourself exploring the wonderful city that is Santiago!

Even though it's rainy today, this was worth a visit. The gardens are lovely. If you're on the pull car and want to see the zoo, you must do it on the way up.
