Founded in 1856, Cousino Macul is the only winery in Chile amongst those established in the 19th century that continues in the hands of the original founding family. The company remains 100% under family control, producing limited quantities of fine wines.

The mission of Cousino Macul is to produce world-class wines that are unmistakably Chilean, carrying the distinctive character of the Maipo Valley.

The winery has vines from vine stock that is over 160 years old! The vineyard is around 100 hectares and produces both reds and wines. Though I did the La Bicicleta Verde tour ( see my review) which included a cycle through the vineyard and cellar plus tastings, you can book or turn up for a tour of the cellar... More

We took the tour "La Bicicleta Verde (also called Wine&Bike)". This tour took us around the vineyards in bikes, going along with the tour we made the first wine tasting. At the end of the bike tour, we continue to the museum of the vineyard. We saw the used wine barrels (now is there just for antique). The wine aging... More

The winery is located near Santiago. You can take the metro and a taxi. There are two tours -standard and premiun. I took the preminum one. Excellent. Tiago, our guide, took us around, explained different grapes, and how they are combined to produce carmenere, merlot, sauvignon,etc.. We had a lesson with an expert in wines, how different types of food... More

We didn't have reservations, but they were nice enough to sell us a bottle (or two) of wine for us to try in the courtyard. The views were great and the wine was very good too. I wish we could have toured the winery because the barrels and all looked lovely.

You can go by tube! Although the technical explanation was not so deep, considering that it was supposed to be a premium tour, the location is worth it. Beautiful wine yards, mountains around, lots of trees. Peaceful place. Tasting was ok but expected more for the price of a premium tour. The guide was very friendly but seemed to be... More

I have visited many "commercial" wineries in some places. All the same. A fast visit on cellars, some shots of 1 or 2 wines and then... Go to the shop. In Cousiño Macul we did a pretty interesting bike tour by the vineyard with tour guides (Carlos and Martin from Bicicleta Verde) and, after that we tried 5 glasses of... More

I went to Santiago for my vacations last year, and went to Cousino´s winery with a local friend, on a special bike tour. Had a great time there, as the place is beautiful, with good guides explaining everything about the story of the company. We could even taste the grapes! And inside the building we could taste four different wines.... More

I really enjoyed my visit to Cousino Macul. They were helpful and I appreciated being able to reserve a spot on a tour considering I only tried to reserve the night before. Our tour guide, Luciano(I think) was informative and very entertaining. I particularly enjoyed being shown the library and the underground cellars. The wine tasting was delightful as well,... More
