Loved the whole area. Can't beat this view. Best photos of the whole trip. Snow capped peak all year long makes these views unbelievable.

We were lucky to visit volcan osorno in February on a morning when there were no clouds and it was sunny. However as soon as we climbed up to the ridge to get a view of the lake , the clouds were below us and covering the lake. It's a long drive but worth it if you can stop along... More

We did the drive up the Volcano to where the ski resort is . The road is tarmaced apart from the very last bit and is not too windy. There is a café about 2/3 of the way up where we had a cup of tea but I think it is better to wait until you get to the ski... More

If you have your own vehicle, drive. The roads are all paved and the views are amazing. You will want to stop very frequently to take pictures and the tours don't allow this. Go in the late morning early afternoon to avoid all the tour busses because it starts to get busy after lunch. Once you drive as far as... More

As a geologist, I never miss a chance to visit a volcano, especially one as spectacular as Osorno. However (once again), nature conspired against me by showing the magnificent snow-covered crest and the symmetrical base, but sent clouds to obscure the middle. Cold and breezy, but my wife went up the chairlift in the fog and reported a cinder cone... More

We started the trip from Puerto Montt with an excellent Spanish guide, under a perfectly blue sky. Everywhere you were looking, the view was spectacular: lakes, farms, water falls, hairpin road going up, we could see the top of the volcano and then? Fog, fog, parking lot, beginning of the chairlift, a small souvenir store, cafeteria and... back to the... More

My husband and I stayed in Puerto Montt and had a car rental to explore the area. I would recommend a 4X4 but you can explore most roads with s small car which is better on gas. The Volcano and lakes are beautiful. Visit the ice cream shop just 7km from Puerto Varas towards the Volcano on the main road.... More

Interesting enough. Chairlift was a little pricey. It kinda looks better from further away, rather than on the volcano itself.

The volcano experience is highly weather dependent and all 4 seasons can pass through in a short period of time. It is beautiful but it was very windy the day we were there. Worth the trip
