The hike up is very difficult and was very very cold (I went in May), but the view is incredible and we got to slide down which was so fun!!!

Great experience, we didn't get to the top but it's 7-8/10 difficulty, depending on your fitness level. Recommended to be in a little bit of shape, also maybe bring or buy a walking stick as that will be helpful.

Takes about 4 to 5 hours to summit. All in all it’s just a big walk, there’s nothing technical about it. You do have to wear crampons on the ice, and the ice-pick is needed in case of a fall, and at the end to...More

I did the climbing with the tour booked in the Chili Kiwi hostel. The guides were great, not rushing. The climbing was in a good pace, the equipment was good. The view from the top is really nice and the going down sliding the snow...More

We drove up the route to the volcano, up to a point where we arrived to a landing that had a great view of the volcano and the trees. The ripio road is not great, but doable. Yet, we realized that we could continue going...More

One of the highlights of a trip to the Lake district in Chile is a hike up the Villaricca active ice-covered volcano. The climb has to be with a guided group booked through a travel agency (many in the neighboring city of Pucon) and is...More

Expected a decent hike and instead was tested mentally and physically like no other. Note - we have hiked in and out of the Grand Canyon twice with 30lbs packs. This is truly a bucket list adventure and epic! Our guide Oscar was tested and...More

inactive during our stay but has had recent eruptions, certainly adds a dramatic view to the lake. Interesting to see it appear and disappear according to the weather

Yes on a day of good weather. The climb is do able and not hard. Of course people should bds relatively fit. The extent of climb can also be reduced from 5 hours to 4 hours if you pay extra for the chair lift.

Only so far, before you get in snow then you really need a guide if you want to go to the top it is dangerous otherwise.
