About
Marina Bay Golf Course is Singapore’s first and only 18-hole public golf course and one of Asia’s best public golf courses. The award-winning course is also the first to introduce the longest and only par-6 hole on the island. Located strategically in the heart of town, the course offers golfers great accessibility and a picturesque view of the city skyline, be it day or night. The design of the par-72 championship course attempts to connect to the history of golf; traditional links of Scotland and the beginning of golf - with its few water hazards and in particular, its 85 pot bunkers. The signature holes of the quality course include the 651-meter par-6 4th hole and the par-3 13th, complete with island green design. Its latest addition is the Marina Bay Putting Course which open for play in November 2017. The par-24, 6-hole putting course features 211 metres of natural grass putting surface and a spectacular view of the Singapore city skyline.

Good driving range and public course
Feb. 2020
Great practice facilities here, good pro shop and bar/restaurant. Course is not that demanding fairly flat, expect a slow round. Par 6 is interesting!. Good holiday course, hire clubs available to. Worth a knock!

Best public golf course in Asia
Oct. 2019 • Friends
Although the course is a bit flat, numerous bunkers & water hazards have made up the challenges for the layout. With friendly staff and great facilities, it is no doubt one of the best public golf course in Asia.

Delay!
Feb. 2020
The round was very slow at 5 hours and there was a 40 min delay in starting. It would be considerate to notify guests when there is starting delay

Dear tony258978, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are conducting an internal review of the matter. To facilitate our review of the delay in your tee off time, we would appreciate it if you could provide more information (eg. date of play and tee time) to us by sending an email to enquiry@mbgc.com.sg. Thank you.

Golf driving range
Mar. 2019 • Couples
Had a lovely sunset visit to golf driving range on St Valentine’s Day. We had a glass of wine at the bar ( liquid courage for me!) before heading to the golf driving range to practice. Large bucket was only $11 , small one was $8. For me it was a nice and fun way to spend evening, the large bucket of golf balls was never ending fun for me - with my terrible swing skills 🤗😂

Range in three layers. Each having foresight radar system at decent cost. Mornings are cheaper than evenings yet early morning sun is from at the range.

Driving range leaves a lot to be desired
Dec. 2019
This review is only for the driving range. Issues in order:

- Not very public transit/pedestrian friendly to get to.
- Machine to get a card only accepts credit cards, no cash.
- Minimum card value is $15 (+ GST).
- No direct club rental once the pro shop has closed for the night, so you have to rent from a third-party (the resident golf school I think). $10 per club per hour.
- No automatic ball loading. This is old school, get a bucket of balls and place them each yourself.
- The ball dispensing machine is finicky. You have to place your card in upside down and really shove it and wiggle it around. I gave up twice before a local took pity on me and showed me how to do it.
- No tees. There's holes for big round tees to be placed in but nowhere did I see any tees available for use.
- Each stall's "grass" area is angled toward the center. This might not be a problem except that it's only the grass that's angled. Everything else about each stall is straight, so the angled grass really messes with your perception and makes it hard to aim "straight".
- I did 50 balls + 50 balls and somehow ended up with $2 on my card. That's $0.13 per ball. The highest their website states is $0.08 per ball.
- Total cost: $35 + GST ($20 for two clubs for an hour and $15 for 100 balls)
- Bathroom is members-only, you need an access card to use it. Somebody came over and offered to open the door, but I really don't see the need for this.
- Budget an extra hour each direction if taking public transit. Nearest bus stop is 10 minutes walk away, only has a couple of bus routes, and they don't run frequently, at least at night.

Also their website says the driving range has four tiers. The first two were almost full so I looked everywhere and couldn't find any stairs going to any higher levels. Visually I could only see two tiers. I never saw any balls being hit from higher than the second tier.

There are signs posted on the second tier saying "No drivers/woods/long irons"; no such signs on the first tier. I ignored the sign, but in any case the first tier was full so I guess if I wanted to hit a driver or long iron I technically couldn't.

And a small gripe, but the soda machines had only sugary drinks (and maybe water). No snack machines that I can recall.

Just all around a disappointment and I wish I had looked around for better options instead of going with the closest.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our driving range. We would like to clarify that there is a one-time charge of $15 (subject to GST) for the purchase of a new range card - $5 is payable for the new card and $10 is for the stored value. You have rightly observed that there are holes in the range mats to cater for tees. Golfers have an option to bring their own tees or to purchase rubber tees from the pro shop. Based on your description, you would be at level 3 of the driving range. Level 1 is below the carpark/ground level. For your information, there are three staircases (two at each end of the range and one in the middle) to access another level of the range. Level 4 (open air) is not open to the public. We have taken note of your feedback and will review the possible areas of improvement in order to provide our patrons with a better experience at our range facility. On another note, we would like to highlight that all 114 bays across three levels have an in-built tracking system that can capture your ball hits and provide you with real-time performance feedback. You can also access a library of virtual courses, games and skill-building challenges. This launch monitor technology and gaming platform is accessible at a fee of $15 per hour.

Great public course
Nov. 2019 • Friends
Not many public courses in Singapore. This is great one to visit, great few leveled covered driving range, nice seating at Canopy restaurant. Food and staff at Canopy could be better. But course very nice with great view. Great gateaway for some sport and relaxed day. Happy to be back again!

Decent links style .... hard to get a beverage
Jul. 2019 • Business
A dozen of us , most with rental clubs enjoyed a well maintained round course .

The afternoon and night combination was fun to play under the lights . The location is great, nice photo opps of the skyline.

Course conditioning was good except for wicked deep pot bunkers with poor sand thus making them impossible to get out of .

So avoid the bunkers, greens run true but not fast....a decent challenge.

Proshop is basic ....lot of equipment , shirts etc....but minimal logo'd items for the tourists.

Note ....NO halfway hut , no beverage cart.....so definitely take water etc..

We did meet a fantastic course Marshall who was willing to purchase and deliver beers and water etc.. for us . Thank you!!!

Locker room ...clean and efficient.

Restaurant .....horribly slow and unorganized.
Had trouble getting a couple beers ....others got theirs even after ordering later....in fact our food arrived before the first round of beer. My Aussie playing partner was not afraid of enquiring where the Beer was ???.....and they still were slow.
A couple decent servers would make the place a fortune.

Overall a good day with a good group.

Singapore Hidden Gem
May 2019 • Friends
If you're looking for a place away from the madding crowd; one that has a great view of the Singapore skyline and has lots of fresh air, then this public golf course is the place to visit. Even if you are not a golfer, this place is worth a visit. The cafè has a great view, serves good food and the staff are very friendly and helpful. We had a fantastic relaxing afternoon. Definitely one of Singapore's hidden gems!

What an absolute disgrace to Singapore golfing.
Mar. 2019 • Friends
It is not often I'm annoyed enough to write a review for bad staff, normally giving benefit of the doubt. However in this instance I feel it is warranted. I played at Marina once in 2011 having vowed never again as that wasn't pleasant and now again recently with an out of town friend who was adamant he wanted to play here specifically, so I thought I would give it another go and maybe things have improved.

It was disappointing and embarrassing given the arrogance and disregard afforded us by pretty much every person we came in to contact with associated with the golf. The most objective way for me to try and do this is a Pros & Cons so here goes:

The Pros
- Good location and some great views during the round
- Very central
- Fairly good links style course and well maintained.
- Club house facilities ok for after round relaxation.
- F&B staff in the clubhouse were very pleasant in general

Cons
- the booking process was archaic and website looks like it was designed in 1990
- payment up front
- without an official handicap card to present, you are forced to do a paid nonrefundable swing test, not very clear before booking
- swing test official barely looked while we hit 5 balls each - felt like a scam
- poor quality hire clubs given rental fees, I had my own and had I known I would have offer my wife's clubs these would have been better for my friend
- the green fees are nothing more than discriminatory and seem to be designed to sucker visitors out of a little more cash (have member and non member like every other club open to the public in the world)
- after swing test as a two ball we were made to wait and join another two ball
- registration staff had no interest in discussing the fact we booked a specific time
- tee off time was 25-30 mins after our booked and paid in advance tee off time even though we arrived at least 30 mins prior, as recommended
- we suggested we would come another day given the waiting time, we were told there was no refund and we would have to pay again if we did not play
- course marshals that had no issue in hurrying us along at every opportunity even though we couldn't play any faster without risk to the group in front

If you need more convincing of the approach at this particular golf club just visit the website before you play - fees schedules requiring a math degree, rules & regulations on almost page, yellow card & red cards offence list and yet so little about the the enjoyment you should have playing this course particularly since it's not a bad course once you start playing.

Golf is challenging enough without this kind of added aggravation. If ever coming to Singapore I can only suggest to pay extra and play at Laguna, Keppel or any of the other courses that allow non members. I would have paid double not to have to deal with what we were subjected to. If you have the time check out Bintan or Batam for a day trip as well, both have a great range of courses for all levels and with staff that are genuinely friendly.

Marina really needs someone to review how the club approaches the 'public' part of being a public golf course, this is not how visitors should experience Singapore golf.

Dear RB_TheWiseTraveller, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are deeply concerned about the issues which you have raised after your visit to Marina Bay Golf Course. We sincerely apologise that our service levels fell short of your expectations and adversely affected your overall experience. We have shared the issues which you have highlighted internally and will be carefully reviewing each of them to prevent recurrence and to make further improvements. To facilitate our review of the delay in your tee off time, we would appreciate it if you could provide more information (eg. date of play and tee time) to us by sending an email to enquiry@mbgc.com.sg. You are correct to highlight that the website design and booking interface are dated. While we were one of the first in Singapore to introduce an online golf booking portal on our website, we recognised that these were in need of a revamp. Hence, we are currently working on a new website and booking system which will be ready in the next few months. We will take into consideration your feedback to improve the website. Being a public golf course, we welcome patrons from all walks of life and countries. As part of a safety consideration for other golfers on the golf course, we therefore require that golfers possess basic golf proficiency and produce their latest and valid official handicap certificates. The golf course swing assessment was introduced as we recognised that golfers, especially visitors from overseas, may not carry their handicap certificates with them. To facilitate their requests to play on the golf course, they are requested to go for and pass the golf course swing assessment. While we are disappointed to hear that your experience was marred by various factors, we appreciate your feedback and are committed to improve our levels of service and hospitality to our guests. We will strive to address the issues which you have mentioned in order to provide a better experience for our guests.
