Long Bar is now closed as part of our restoration programme and is slated for a grand reopening in the middle of 2018, along with the rest of the hotel. Home of the Singapore Sling, this two-story bar located on the second floor of Raffles Singapore is the place where travellers undergo one of the true rites of passage of travel. While there, sip on the world famous pink cocktail created in 1915 by bar captain Ngiam Tong Boon, and toss peanut shells onto the floor, the only place in Singapore where "littering" is permitted. The menu also offers a melange of cocktails and non-alcoholic concoctions, together with traditional pub favourites. The earthy interiors are inspired by Malayan plantation life in the 1920s. Oriental carpets are overlain on tiled floors and the furniture is traditional stained cane and rattan. A charming timber spiral staircase connects the two levels of the Long Bar with the seating above interspersed with teak lounge chairs.

This is a time travel. The atmosphere brings you back in times, the bar is beautiful and you must try the Singapore Sling. Fun moment when you throw the peanut shells on the ground Expensive (very) but worth it !

Well this is a classic place. Unfortunately, this is a classic place! Lots of people and even tour buses drop people off here. I would go early say 10:30am (check what time it opens). Have a beer, you don't need to have a Singapore sling....More

The Long bar is the place you visit as a tourist when you come to Singapore to have your Singapore Sling. Nice atmosphere with the linear ceiling fans wafting gently and the Hessian bag of peanuts on the table in every booth. The service is...More

Yeah, it's on most tourists bucket list for Singapore and we were no different. Even with the high tea unavailable and the long bar closed we still enjoyed a Singapore sling in the billiard room. Comfortable surroundings steeped in tradition and an enjoyable visit. Can't...More

Written and frequented about by famous authors, this is one unusual place where littering is allowed and encouraged in clean Singapore. Peanut Shells litter the wooden floor, a quaint practice and where the famous Singapore Sling is served. Great for a visit to sample the...More

Stayed for the famous long drink born there and the atmosphere is similar to a colonial book romance. From the architectur to the extremely kindly staff working there. The Singapore Sling is a must to try.
