We visited the Istana during their open house and loved it. The grounds were beautiful and the house itself was almost regal. There is a strong sense of history in the place, but also a very real grounding to the present day.

Headed to the Istana Open House during the 2016 Hari Raya. Though I was perspiring profusely when climbing up the mini hill towards the Istana, the journey was priceless. It’s my first visit to the Istana and I was extremely mesmerized by the beautiful nature surrounding it. Unfortunately, video and photo taking is prohibited in the Istana. But trust me,... More

This is the official residence of the President of Singapore. Gardens of this palace are open for public on national holidays. One can find calendar details in the website. Next date will be the Labor day in May, and we are looking for it. Security is kept very tight. If the President likes, he some times comes to the garden... More

Came here today for the CNY opening. It's only open a few times a year and I've never managed to see it before. Long queues to get in and even longer queues to visit the main building interior. I only saw the grounds as the queues to go inside were just ridiculous. All very pretty and well worth a visit... More

The Istana is only opened on public holidays to the public. There are paid guided tours to the Istana and Nature walk. A great place to picnic. Bring your picnic basket. Nothing much to see in the Istana itself. Limited access. Go early to avoid the long queue.

the Istana is the president's residence and heavily guarded. On public holidays, it is open and free for all to visit. The grounds are lush and covered with an array of beautiful plants and flowers. Family friendly activity!

Open to the public only on national holidays, this is the official residence of Singapore's President. On open days visitors can enjoy cultutal performances, or walk around at leisure.

Get to walk around the garden in Istana and for a ticket priced at a small price, you can visit the inside of the Istana(small partition of the place). Inside, you will see various gifts given to the president by various countries. No photos are allowed inside the building due to security reasons.

Istana is open for about 5 days each year, this info is available online. Get there by 8am, that way you will be ahead in the queue. Carry water. It can get quite humid and warm, so an umbrella and sun block. Its a bit of a walk to the main house, which is quite simple (the rooms open to... More
