I have to agree with similar reviews - I definitely don't think its a 'must do' when in Singapore. It's quite far out of the city and it seems very disorganised and poorly run. We went on a Monday night and there were still big queues, so we did the walking trails first (but we somehow had to do all of them unless we went back to get to where we started!) and it was really hard to see in the dark. We got on the tram around 10pm and it was cool but I wouldn't recommend this to any future visitors to Singapore.

Good concept but hard to see the animals
To see the animals at night where they are more active seems a good concept . And to walk around the zoo you get to see more than the train. However you cannot take pictures because of the darkness and it gets harder to spot anything the later it gets. Not sure if I would make this a must do when visiting singapore. Tip go early as it gets very busy .

    A different zoo experience
My family and I enjoyed the night safari. It was not the usual experience when you Go to a zoo. The creatures of the night Show is a must. Since we were Very tired from walking at the Singapore Zoo, the tram ride was a relief to our tired feet.

    BEST SAFARI EVER!!!!!!!
It is a great experience for people who like animals and zoos but want to experience something new. It is an adrenaline filled amazing experience that makes you feel so close to nature. Not only do the non harmful animals at arms reach it tells like the ones that are meant to be caged are too. That is because the barriers are natural and made from things like water. The animals seem to be happy there and have way more space than in a normal zoo which I as a person who lives animals think is great. The whole experience is enhanced by the driver that explains everything about the animals and nature. I would really recommend everyone who is goi g to Singapore to go there.

    Sadly disappointing and rushed
I went to this quite a few years ago and remembered it as lovely but was sadly disappointed this time. Entry times are rigidly enforced. I got there early as I didn't know how long it would take to get there on public transport thinking that I could have something to eat before the safari but all the food/drink outlets are beyond the entry gates so couldn't get anything. Once I was in, I didn't want to waste time on food/drink so they missed out on that business. I would recommend buying an earlier ticket as they seemed to still be letting people with 7.15 entry in at 8.15 but they didn't let the 8.15 entry in until 8.16. (I had problems with the booking payment system and the earlier slots were full by the time I managed to get the payment system to work). There was quite a long queue for the tram ride with people just shouting at us and the actual ride felt quite disapppointing. The trails were better as you had time to stop and look but I felt with a later entry time and reliant on public transport, it was all rushed and I didn't have time to make the most of it. If you had your own transport, then you could take your time. For the time I was in there, it felt like an expensive night and not really worth the money.

Tram is useless but walking is ok except for wheelchairs
My wife was in a wheelchair and the tram staff catered for her, except the seat belt was broken. The tram was pretty useless as it didn’t stop briefly at each pen, just slowly rolled by. You cannot use flash (understandable) but that means you cannot photograph moving animals from a moving tram as every photo is blurred due to long shutter speeds. We did a trail (Fishing Cat trail) so we could actually see and photograph some animals. OK for strollers but difficult for wheelchairs and their pushers because of some steep slopes. Trail signposts are totally confusing. A couple of shops and a cafe at the entrance/exit. My tip - visit during the day instead of night.

    Nocturnal Feasts
Last time I visit this attraction was 13 years back. I was not that enamored with it but happy to see my daughter enjoying the experience. But I tell you , the heat and humidity of the city doesn’t help either. Now , being part of our corporate activity I had no choice but to join. And yet it felt that the program like showing rare night species bodes well with families, and not for an adult like me. The tram ride is not that appealing either with the voice recorded guide seem to lull me into sleep . Good thing tickets are purchased in advance by our tour leader, no wait time for the program since we came right on time. And the staff are always cheerful, that’s important in this set up.

    Night Safari
A great experience especially for kids to see the animals moving about. Most zoos are closed at night or are in a caged arrangement. here you safe as the animals are separated for audience but barriers you don't see. Walking the area after the tram ride has its own special bits as you can stay longer at certain animals or view them from different angles. Have good walking shoes and drinks available as its about an hour to wander around. A few food outlets that can get crowded so perhaps as a family have a snack with you as there are places to sit. getting there you have Uber, taxi or bus ticket combinations run by companies. Taxi and uber can be as high as $100 each way so bus is really cheap. Check on websites for providers

    Cool experience! Lots of walking.
This was such a fun experience! That being said I felt like you had to be “in the know” for some things, and luckily I went with my friend who had been several times before. 1. Sign up for the show, which you can reserve day of for free 2. It’s a bit of a maze so check the map often and allot at least 3 hours to really see everything 3. There are some animals apparently (elephant, not sure what else) that you can’t see if you go by foot and can only see from the bus 4. If you are seeing it on foot, it’s a good amount of walking!! I felt like I was on a little nature hike so be sure to wear comfy shoes to walk in. We saw so many animals that I didn’t even know existed and it was neat that it was in the evening so the nocturnal animals were actually out and about rather than sleeping in the corner (though some animals were sleeping). The large natural settings the animals were given made it seem indeed more like a safari than a zoo exhibit (seeing shadows of animals behind leaves or sensing their rustling movement). The immersive areas (civets, bats) were the coolest and most exhilarating parts.

    A Must Do In Singapore
Fantastic experience. Very well organised and a great way to see animals up close in the night. You enter via your ticket (recommend you get in advance) in 15 minute time slots. Taken around in an open eclectic tram. The pace was good and the recorded commentary was very well done. Over all would high recommend for adults and children!

After dealing with various situations in Singapore where people were so honest about correcting their mistakes, it came as a shock to feel so cheated by the ridiculous Night Safari Singapore.

If you really must go, then add it on to an afternoon trip to the zoo. But it would be a waste of money to do the Night Safari by itself. It's going to take you around half an hour to get there by taxi, and the taxi will cost around SGD 25, and then back again to your hotel.

Hundreds, if not thousands of people arrive for the 7.15 ... and then again for the 8.15 entrance, and so on. Fortunately the queues move fast, and the staff get you on the trams quickly.

You would think as dusk fell you would get a reasonable view of the animals. But you don't. Most the the animals you will see will be various deer and hogs. Let's be honest, what people really want to see is lions, tigers and magnificent beasts. Does anyone care about seeing hogs in the dark ?

Many of the animals have dark fur .. so what you might get to see is some white or pink in their ears, and that's about it. Other impressive animals like the elephants, you can see them a whole lot better in daylight. So there's no point looking at them at night.

We were also told the tram ride was around 45 minutes. It was over in 30 minutes.

They save the best for last. A tiger, properly lit, in a small enclosure so it paces back and forth behind glass. Not entirely sure that's one happy tiger. And that's it, that is your highlight right at the end, the last 5 to 8 seconds.

Also, irritatingly there's a horrible recorded American cheesy narration. They constantly ask people to be quiet to not scare the animals, but the Chinese and Indians don't listen or understand and jabber the whole trip, so ruin any atmosphere. Would have loved to have fed some of them to the lions.

I also have my doubts about some of the animals in the main zoo. The beautiful leopards and cheetahs constantly pace back and forth in a very small space. It would send a human mad, so heaven knows what it does to an animal.

With so many great reviews we followed the masses of people in Dec 2019 to see animals at night. There was about 20mins wait in line to buy tickets. There was about 40mins wait in line to get into the night safari. There was then another 35min wait in a zig zag line to get a tram ride to see some animals in their enclosures. We would have liked to go around again but weren’t willing to join the line again. For over $200+ for a family of 5, I don’t think it was worth it. They let too many people in the zoo even though there are set entrance times. There are still people there from the earlier entrance time.
Great place to see some animals and lots of people queuing.

We pre-booked the tickets with a specific entry time (9.15). Got there at 8.30, people were lining up, and the queue was long.

Once you scanned the ticket and got in; there was another long queue for the tram. By the time we sat on the tram, it was past 10.15, which ‘supposed to be’ the next entry time. The tram ride only last for an hour while we wasted more time on queuing.

This is clearly over capacity. It is poorly organized and simply chaotic.

We were torn whether to visit the Night Safari or Singapore Zoo but chose this as it seemed like a unique experience - and we certainly weren't disappointed.

On arrival, most people head straight to the tram so we walked along the paths instead. This place has a very special atmosphere and it was wonderful to see the animals start to quietly emerge as it got darker. After we'd walked everywhere we saw the show (fun but probably aimed more for kids), and then got on the tram for the drive around. Do try to do a bit of walking as well as the tram - we saw some animals one way but not the other and vice versa.

I'd highly recommend this place as I've never come across anything quite like it and it's a much more manageable temperature to be walking around than in the day! Takes about 45min-1 hour to get there in a taxi from the centre.

We visited the Night Safari in June 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed our evening. We arrived at 8pm but didn’t have time to attend one of the shows. Recommend to arrive around 7pm if you want to see the shows which you need to book in advance. There are also opportunities to feed some of the animals which also need to be booked in advance.

We got the MRT to Khatib and then the shuttle bus to the Night Safari. This cost 1 dollar and runs every 20 minutes. The last bus back is 11pm - this bus does get busy so recommend arriving before if you want a seat.

Absolutely love the night safari

#1 Night Safari Tip - Go on a rainy weekday.

Absolutely no queues to be seen (as not seen in photos). We were able to ride the tram numerous times without having to line up at all. Most of the trams weren’t even half full.

The cooler weather makes walking the trails and a pleasant overall experience.

The animals were frisky and alert due to cooler weather as well.

You must visit night safari when in Singapore, and like I said, choose a rainy weekday and enjoy the park without the queues.

I’d also recommend doing the Night Safari on a seperate day to the zoo, especially if you have kids. You don’t want to fatigued when visiting.

When buying ticket for night Safari, the rainforest Luminar is a compulsory bundle. However after the trip at the Safari, there is virtually no time for the rainforest Luminar anymore, let alone catching the last bus to MRT station which ends before or exactly at the Safari closure.
A Chinese guy was seen selling “discounted” online tickets before the official ticketing booth, giving reasons of selling off unused tickets from friend which obviously was made up. A scalper indeed but not regulated, shouldn’t have happened in Singapore.

We bought the 8.15pm tickets and after entering we were promptly told over the loud speaker as well as as we were moving through the ticketing gate that we could go a certain way to get on the tram or you could go another way if you wanted to walk around. We had a tired tween so we took the tram ride which was informative and maybe we were just lucky but we saw loads of animals. after the tram ride did it's circuit we then lined up for about 15 minutes for the night show. Fabulous. If you've been to a few zoo's it's not the absolute most awesome show I've seen but well worth it and I wouldn't suggest missing it. You could have then walked around again if you wanted to as the Zoo is open until very late but we left after the the once around tram ride and show.

The same shows as many years ago. Only the garbage sorting otter is a different animal now. Otherwise no further development. On our first visit, you could still feed the animals on the tour at stopovers. The staff that was supposed to prepare a Singapore Sling three times in addition to the fire show was just annoyed. Furthermore, one has the impression at the zoo, river safari and night safari that in order to save money the animal groups were only distributed in 3 attractions and thus the animal groups only got smaller. Exceptions are the pandas (were not distributed) and the polar bear that died.

There's one thing that's important to understand: the night safari is a "tram ride" through the zoo... at night. Not really a safari. Although we did ride pretty near one or two animals, we saw most of them from the same distance as you'd see them if you just visited the zoo during the day. The fact that it's a "night" safari means you don't see the animals so well, as it is dark. Getting there is a bit of a hassle as it's not near a metro station, so you need a bus, and there were MASSES of people. We spent for more time getting there and queuing up than looking at the animals. Visiting the zoo during the day would have been a better experience, but in hindsight we should have skipped it altogether.
