Cruise is must visit, but do plan tour trip to Singapore so that you have a day to relax after that. There are so many activities that days will pass as wind. Take your time don't rush to reach every activity. Plan and book in advance on cruise app, mostly shows as they have limited capacity or you have to queue up till all advance booking settled. Also don't worry about food and stuff as you will get something to eat at any time of day or even night. Paid activities are costly so choose as per your convenience.
Regarding Drinks take your own SEALED bottles not more than 750ml per person, as drinks are very costly to be paid in USD.
Drinking water you get 4 no 500ml bottle per room for 3 days cruise. Rest you have to purchase for USD 4 per bottle. So better keep your empty bottles and fill up from drinking water station as seen on airport.
If you want to purchase Alcoholic beverages package it cost a real heck around USD 400 for two adult, and to surprise you cannot buy for single person , for one room if you are with your better half who doesn't drink than also you are forced to pay for both.
But if you're willing to pay than it is best option as you can have any brand available anytime till bar is open and there are lots of them which you can find open anytime.
Rest all please experience.
Bon voyage.....

Bad Security
Very Very Chaotic checkin...no proper signage
baggage handlers look like goons and behave like one.
it took us 3 hours to checkin, had informed about wheel chair for my old parents much in advance. but no wheel chair i had to request at least 20 people before i got them.
Overall a harrowing experince.

Extraordinary cruise with amazing Hospitality.
If you are Indian or Asian …. Usually we have lots of adjustments in Cruises be it Royal Caribbean or any ……… but this cruise Genting Dream has addressed this concern and it’s indeed feast for Indians … from Breakfast to Lunch to Dinner …. Hindu vegetarian - Hindu Non vegetarian- Jain food - South Indian …. It was delicious and wide variety .
We were 200 pax as a part of Cruisesthan group sailed from Singapore to Phuket from Sep 17 to 20. 2024.
Everyone had gala time with great facilities and hospitality and food .
Would strongly recommend.

Anyone planning to go on cruise and can’t decide whether book GD (Genting Dream) or Royal Caribbean - allow me to share my recent Genting Dream Cruise on a 4 days 3 nites to Port Klang ... I have also been on Royal Caribbean Cruise twice and let me say, if food is important than Genting Dream is ideal as they serve a variety of indian and Asian cuisine but the food is sub-standard
There is no fine dining setting and no supper and you are limited to 3 main meals - no free supper or tea on GD unlike RC!

my friends and I (20 in all) did not thoroughly enjoy the cruise at all as (1) food was terrible; (2) stuck in Port Klang for 10 hours with nothing to do (as it costs about $70 to take the bus to KL!) ; (3) for those who like gaming - ie casino; take the cruise to nowhere as you can play but whilst you are at the port you cant do so..... the shows are nothing fantastic and we dint bother about it....

As compared to Royal Caribbean - it is more defined and food is much better - they even have free tea/coffees throughout the cruise and even free supper room service (GD do not have) - programs are much better; dinning experience is better and even the international buffet is better than GD - the food in GD is like for masses of sub-standard food !

My vote go on RC

And the embarkation and disembarkation on GD is horrendous at the cruise centre and on board the ship !

I have come into Singapore many times through the Harbourfront Centre Ferry Terminal from Batam Island, Indonesia. There are several ferries every hour, and hundreds of people per hour have to pass through the Harbourfront ICA checkpoint to go into Singapore. I've had waits of 35 minutes to an hour many times, but on December 29, the wait was beyond all reason, 1 hr 45 min for me but 2 hours or more for the people behind me. I had to wait outside the building for 15 minutes, and by the time I got inside, I looked back and saw that the queue had grown with the arrival of more ferries, all the way back to the docks, and people stepping off the boats were immediately in the queue. I wouldn't be surprised if some people were delayed in getting off their ferry boats. The disgusting thing was that the ICA did not care how many people were in line, nor did they do anything to work faster to alleviate the wait. Making people stand for 2 hours, is extremely poor service. I heard several people calling to friends or business associates that they could not be on time for their meeting because of the queue. The agents seemed oblivious to the people waiting, and there was no sign of management doing anything to get the queue moving faster. In fact about 11 am, some agents appeared to be shutting down and heading for lunch, leaving several stations unmanned. Management should have set up some extra tables and sent everyone out of the office with a rubber stamp to stamp the passports as fast as possible. Furthermore, the agents are disrespectful and unfriendly to the people of Indonesia who are passing through the checkpoint. My Indonesian friends are grilled about why they are coming to Singapore, how much money do they have, why do they want to stay as long as they plan? And they are allowed to stay considerably shorter stay periods than people from other countries, like 30 days vs. 90 days. The agents show a contempt and arrogance to the Indonesians which is completely disgusting. They clearly do not welcome visitors who want to spend money in their country. My friends say the Singaporeans are very conceited. And I can say that the agents never smile, never say hello, and never say "Enjoy your visit" even to me. Singapore claims to be number one in many things; the best, the wealthiest, the cleanest, the safest, but the face they are showing to the world with ICA treatment of the arrivals at HarbourFront looks more like a third-world country. They seem to be afraid of tourists, and make them feel unwelcome by their total lack of customer service.

After enjoying the excellent hospitality at cruise for 36 hrs, when you leave your baggage outside your cabins & collect your passports, you are treated as checked out and if you ask for a bottle of 300 ml water after that at 10 am, you will be asked to pay 4 $ even though still you have 2 more hours to wait before disembarking starts. So better keep sufficient stock of water before leaving your cabin.

Most horrible part of journey is when you leave the cruise & be in a long Q of 1500 passengers who have to pass through only 6 immigration check posts/ counters so you have to be standing, & crawling slowly for minimum 3 hours before you reach the counter. They neither offer you even drinking water, nor tea etc & there is no bench or chair to sit down. No mercy even to old persons unless you are wheel chair bound. If your next flight is early, then surely you can miss it. The port officers are most discourteous to passengers .

The Cruise Gemini should release passengers in lots of 100 or so rather than one go to ease the exit. Similarly, the port authorities should increase the no of counters to clear the passengers.

Govt of Singapore is requested to look into the problem to solve it as it spoils the whole purpose of joyful cruise journey.

We travelled on Gemini Star Cruise from Dec 18-21 from Singapore to Penang/Langkawi and return to Singapore.

The onboarding process was quite messy, and we had to wait in line for nearly 90 minutes to clear immigration. I am not sure if the wait times are better during other times, since we travelled during peak season.

There are only about 4 or 5 immigration counters through which more than 2000+ passengers on the cruise need to move through. It is also cramped for space. Senior citizens don't get special priority (although women with infants/toddlers are prioritized). I had to wait with my old mother and older son for 90 mins while my wife and younger son (toddler) were waiting on the post immigration clearance side (surely not so beneficial). Surely, this can be improved!

Tips to traveller: Reach the cruise centre early (may be 4 hours ahead of scheduled departure) for faster check-in. It's much better than waiting in line!

The disembarkation process was faster (about 30 mins). but the surprise waits for you at the taxi stand, where you may have to queue up for 30+ mins for your taxi. The road exit is quite narrow, and can be a harrowing experience, especially when you have younger children throwing tantrums at you for the long wait....

Tip: Suggest you install the grab app on your smartphone (so you do need a 3G/4G sim, which you can purchase for as low as 15 or 18SGD). The Grab app helps you pre-book taxis. I found this to be faster, but used this app myself..

Like the airport travellers boarding certain cruises and ferries have no choice but to visit the SCC
Unlike the airport, this place has rude staff, poor signage and inadequate facilities

Here are tips for overseas travellers or first time users

1) Dont park there. Its too costly. Take public transport

2) If taking a cab tell the driver - "Harbourfront upstairs/up the ramp" (not harbourfront taxi rank on ground level)

3) Turn right upon alighting taxi just past the small convenience kiosk. 30 - 50 paces later (depending on how long your strides are!) you are at the 2nd floor of the cruise centre. Some of the ferry operators check in/ticketing desks are here Some are one floor up

4) if taking the ferry find your ferry operator to get your boarding pass. If your bags are more than 110cm in total check it in at the far end (look for the new Toast Box) next to the cruise boarding area.

5) if taking the cruise wait at the walkway next to Funtasy Island booth You will block the walkway but at least you wont miss boarding. Dont wait elsewhere as the staff wont bother to locate you.

6) if hungry take the escalator to level 3 and walk to the far end to the food court. Level 2 has no choice, mainly snack shops Toilets are poor If you need the facilities walk back to where you got off the cab and straight on to the (seamlessly connecting) Vivocity shopping mall and use the facilities there

7) immigration and customs - rude and unprofessional Just bear with it as you want to board Dont bother arguing or talking to them Its not worth your health. All bags are scanned upon departing and arriving. Check carefully what is allowed out and in (different rules for cruise and ferry passengers) At offpeak times there is only one scanner for arriving and departing ferry passengers so the security guard (oops, customs) will bark instructions on whose turn it is

8) if arriving late (after 10pm) be aware that most shops would have closed so you cannot buy food and essentials unless you can find your way to Vivocity (cinema area) Best to get the items before departure Check in advance what types of food customs wont allow in Cooked food is mostly ok

9) transport from SCC - last train on the Mrt departs after midnight If not much luggage or children take a train as close to the destination as possible then take a taxi from there especially after 11.30pm From 11.30pm taxis impose a "midnight surcharge" which is 25-50% extra of the metered fare If in doubt ask the driver how the charge works before you board. All taxis must take you to your destination. If they refuse take a photo of their licence plate with surrounds and time and report him the same day or next day to LTA taxi complaints line or to the taxi company itself. If you want to support (unlicensed) part timers, type in Harbourfront into the Grab app on your smartphone and your destination (no credit card or email required, pay cash to the driver)

Overall - overcrowded poor facility reminiscent of the 70s left behind in the country's development. No one has ever seen management walking about. If they did they would have been lost in the crush of passengers boarding the large cruise ships

Took the Royal Caribbean Cruise Mariner of the Seas from Singapore to Penang (Malaysia). The check-in at the Singapore cruise centre was quite smooth and well organised. We boarded the ship on time and the check-out on our return was equally effortless.

A good place with all required facilities to handle large number of tourists.
