Chinatown hectic and full of heritage

Beautiful buildings and very tourist friendly. No shortage of good food but definitely more expensive.

I love Chinatown as it is truly alive. The sights smells and sounds are like no where else. If you have never been you must go. The whole area is worth a look and I walk for hours and always see something new no matter how many times I have been there.

We decided to go to the market at night and see what it as like. It was fantastic with many stalls and foods to sample. Its a typical Chinese market with a myriad of things to look at and buy at very cheap prices. We decided to eat dinner at one of the many restaurants and the food was fresh... More

China town has a sharp contrast of low rise buildings and temples. This area has plenty of heritage and is bursting at the seems with culture. Temples, street stalls, shopping malls, restaurants, spas are just some of the experiences you will have here. However, you must be patient with the crowds and similarities on offer. The buildings are amazing and... More

We went here to buy souvenirs etc. The street market is quite large and as with a lot of street markets a lot of stalls are similar. We did spend quite a long time here as there were things we had not seen in other markets. Beware if anyone wants to show you around as this is just a way... More

Chinatown stands true to it's name. Very Chinese in experience and appearance. It is a great place to get a bit of shopping done. The Chinatown MRT station leads straight into the street. Clean, cheap and loads of varieties of food and shops.

Bit disappointed in Chinatown Singapore compared with the one in Kuala Lumpur. Not a lot of choice of goods for sale. They were getting geared up for the Chinese New Year and there were lots of colourful stalls and roosters around and about.

Colourful and lots of stalls selling all manner of good things for self or souvenir - clothing, jewellery, housewares - lots of really beautiful shops with unique and lovely things. A shoppers paradise with good bargains to be had

Staying in Chinatown

Neighbourhood Profile
Chinatown is a classic combination of colourful sights, enticing smells, and sometimes startling sounds. The precinct is unique, however, in its blending of religions and cultures. A Hindu temple, an Islamic mosque, and a Chinese Buddhist temple sit almost side by side. This sense of cultural harmony continues as you venture just outside of Chinatown to the nightlife areas of Club Street and Duxton Hill. There you’ll mingle with Singapore’s multicultural residents at the modern bars and restaurants dotting the bustling streets. An afternoon in and around Chinatown will leave you culturally enlightened, well fed, and loaded with souvenirs. In the evening, reward yourself with a well-deserved cocktail as the locals come out to play.
