Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Colin was knowledgeable and timed all the activities well. I best enjoyed his sharing and recommendations of Thai ingredients, condiments, products etc from his firsthand experience. His demonstration and guidance in the cooking part of the package was helpful and interesting too! I'm not a 'cooking person' but after the hands-on cooking i felt the three dishes were something i could easily do.

This tour caught my attention because my hubby's family is Hainanese, and I've never had a chance to explore the rich heritage and history.
Colin led us through a succinct tour of the main Hainanese heritage district, peppered with interesting anecdotes and trivial.
We proceeded to the cooking studio to cook some signature Hainanese dishes. Colin gave clear instructions and guidance, with lots of patience. What's really engaging were the stories of the food, which transported us back to our rich heritage.
Colin is vibrant and engaging, so there were no dull moments. He also kindly adapted to my food allergy, for which I am really thankful.
My classmate, Aunties A and ML, say they really enjoy the session so much and send their appreciation to Colin :)

I like the walking tour of the three Hainanese streets; Middle Rd, Purvis St and Seah St. In addition, Chef Colin's lively commentary on the history of the Hainanese settlement in Singapore as well as his explanation of the various Hainanese cuisines and its origins were intriguing and informative too. Well done Chef Colin.

He's also very clear and patient at the culinary class.

Being a Cantonese, it was intriguing to learn the Hokkien History and Culture. I really appreciate Guide cum Chef Colin who conducted the mini walk tour to highlight the chronicle of Hokkien Immigrants and their immerse contribution to our Local History.

With respect to their culinary skill of Fujian Cuisine, participants got to cook Fuzhou Red Wine Chicken and Stir Fried Rice Cake. The taste of the Red Fermented Ingredient was amazingly addictive.

Overall, Chef Colin absolutely known his trade deep-in and it's definitely worth attending this 3-hours course. Highly recommended.

Insightful sharing relating to Hainanese heritage and fantastic tips on cooking Hainanese chicken rice, pork chop and Yi Bua. Too bad participants cannot have the freshly cooked dishes on-site due to Covid 19 safe management measures. It has been a delightful experience overall!

Attended the Let's Go Cook - Discover Thailand cooking class. I don't really enjoy cooking but love Thai food so decided to signup for the 3hr long tour and cooking class. We were paired which was great because I was with my sister. We cooked 3 dishes from scratch, Tom Yum soup, Papaya Salad and a Thai dessert. The salad and Tum Yum turned out really really delicious. Chef Colin was very clear with his instructions and we had a really good time. Thank you Chef!

I learnt so many interesting new things about the history of Singapore and Hainanese culture, plus Chef Colin was so engaging in the way he ran the tour too so I really enjoyed it! Needless to say, the cooking class was absolutely lovely. I loved all the nuggets of expert culinary tips, and I really appreciate how easy it was for me to follow the class even though I hardly ever cook and am super unskilled. Really thankful for how patient Chef Colin was with such a novice like me!! 10/10 would recommend this, and I really hope to see more of such packages! Probably biased but I'm Hakka so I would really love to see one on Hakka food and history :P

Being a Hainanese, wanted to learn how to make Yi buah, so when I saw this tour, tot why not… glad I did had a really fun mini tour and cooking session with Chef Colin. Chef Colin not only a good guide he is also generous to share his culinary tips with us. He even taught me how to sharpen a knife when I asked him. 👍. We learnt the secrets of making authentic Tender Hainanese Chicken Rice, Chrispy Pork Chop and Yi Buah which was so yummy!!

High recommended 👍👍👍👍😌

We cooked 3 traditional Singaporean dishes with Colin. We were only a small group of 3 people and he took the time to explained everything. He has some really good knowledge about food and how to teach people.
Can highly recommend it.
