No visit to Sentosa is complete without meeting its most famous, 37-metre tall resident, the Sentosa Merlion. The legendary Merlion is a mythical creature with a lion's head and a fish's body - as a guardian of prosperity which personifies Singapore's history as an important seaport. The lion head depicts the folklore of Prince Sang Nila Utama's discovery of lion (singa) and City (pura) while the fish tail symbolises the fishing village of 'Temasek', also known as 'sea-town' in Javanese.

Set foot in the Merlion's mouth to get up close and personal with the legend. But don't stop till you get to the crown! At 60 metres above sea level, you will actually be seeing Singapore through the perspective of the Guardian of Prosperity.

Come soak up the 360⁰ commanding view and bask in the aura of this endearing national symbol. You'll see why legends, myths and stories all point to this regal creature for the swift recovery of Singapore's economy from the Asian financial crisis.

I was here with my family on June 2012. It was worth the view. My son enjoyed it. You need to be determined and ready when going to such place, you get exhausted as walking is part of the enjoyment and its a backbreaking for my old ones. Though cars were available to bring you anywhere of the place, it... More

Man made designs but well worth the work, some really nice little displays to see and on the last stop on the MRT (rail system) you can get the feel of the jungle atmosphere as it was 90% humidity, plenty of places to get cool drinks and refreshments.. lovely place to visit and frolic on the beaches

When you go to Sentosa, you can see a huge statue of Merlion standing proudly at the entrance. If you don't snap a picture with it its just like you don't come to Sentosa.

The walk is a little strenuous, especially for kids but its really worth the view above. Get a 360 degree view of Sentosa island. Worth one visit.

Right next door is a very good nature walk through a tropical forest that we really enjoyed. Plus you can take a selfie in front of the Merlion.

This Merlion in Sentosa is large and only one to explore. While we are queuing at the entrance, the staff gave us a card but we didn't know how to use that and followed the crowd. Inside, there are many statue where we can put our cards into slot in exchange for prosperity limited edition coin. Then, wait for the... More

Merlion is the icon for Singapore tourism and the Sentosa Merlion is the biggest one, nearly 40m tall. It has two viewing decks, one on the mouth and the other one on the head. The view from these decks are nice and they provide opportunities to take photographs. The other activity at this attraction includes a brief video on Singapore... More

My wife and i had our photo taken next to the original Merilion, over 40 years ago, which is still there adjacent to the Singapore River, but very hard to fine. This Merlion is at least 50 times bigger, on Sentosa Island, but for us it is just a bit tackey.
