The origins of the church date to 1872 when the first mass was celebrated on site. The building has been remodeled and restored on a number of occasions, culminating in the present building completed in 1961 to serve as a Cathedral. Beautiful building in the Gothic architecture style with two belfries and neo-gothic interior decor. A statue of the Virgin is located in front of the entrance facing Rizal Park and monument to the patriot.

Part of our Group tour, as a Catholic my family went and prayed inside the church. Asked for guidance and thanksgiving. In every tour we go to, our family makes effort to look for a church nearby. Just to pray its part of our travel to be in churches.

Attended the 5pm Sunday Mass. For visitors with no car, you can reach the cathedral by riding a tricycle. Rates may vary depending on the type of tricycle and distance to the church. The church is full during the 5pm schedule. There are white monobloc chairs available for people who wish to be seated while hearing the mass although it can get a bit crowded especially at the back. It will be best to come early to secure seats.

walked to the cathedral then met the amazing Ronnie and his Tuk Tuk he was very persistent so we booked a 4 hour tour BUT....of his local area. Brilliant and so educational as he took us everywhere. Great place to meet a good Tuk Tuk driver. $20 for 4 hour tour.

Historic cathedral, and a very nice Adoration chapel outside the church. Heard Mass here twice when we were in Puerto Princesa after a trip to El Nido. Just a few blocks from the city proper, you can get a short trike ride here. However, the priest celebrating Holy Mass seems to be in a hurry, as he was saying Mass quickly with no solemnity at all. Like, "let's get this over with and be done with it".

A beautiful church walking distance from the cruise port and next to Plaza Cuartel. Both the exterior and interior were kept very nicely. For some reason, I can't upload any of our photos of this trip while we visited Puerto Princesa but the image will forever linger in my mind.

This is a very accessible and beautiful church to visit. We are glad that at Puerto Princesa all the pedicab drivers are licensed tour guides. We felt safe riding public transportation here. Anyway, I hope that the authorities tell guides of non-catholic visitors that this is a place of worship and they have to be respectful of the place. We saw tourists just walking inside the church and taking pictures while there were people obviously praying.
Tourism is good but one has to be mindful of the place and the proper respect it deserves.

This church is the seat of the Apostolic Vicariate of Puerto Princesa (similar to a diocese). The church exteriors are nice to look at. There are no impressive architectural design inside nor paintings as what we can see at Sto. Nino church in Cebu. Nevertheless, it's a quiet place to relax and meditate. The church is near to the Plaza Cuartel where you can also relax. You can light a candle and pray at this cathedral. It ia nice to end your city tour into this church to thank God for a safe strolling. If you happen to be in Puerto Princesa on Sunday, you can have your Eucharist there with multiple schedules from 5am to 7pm.

A cathedral is the centre of faith in any city.

While the seating area within the church was relatively clean, beggars out the front, filth all around the building, and toilets with no water signals that the Archbishop(?) has other things on his mind than catering to the needs of his flock.

Went to the church on a weekday. We found it to be very serene and bright. Worth the stop if you want to visit a classic church.

It's a stop on the half day city tour. It's nice inside but very typical of a Catholic Church in the Philippines.
