These fast speed trains are really neat, you can barely feel they are moving and they are going at really high speeds. We were in Japan and bought the 7-day pass, so we travelled everywhere with it with no problem. Totally worth it!

We take a trip from Tokyo to Osaka by shinkansen. First, the train was very clean and smooth. Second, we enjoy the view from the window side with the beautiful scenery. Worth it.

I'd just go for the bullet return There is a mix of train / tube in Kyoto to mix with walking We rented an electric assisted bike, this was a great & convenient way to get about - see my cycle shop review
