We spent a few hours in this lovely zoo. It is really well kept, clean and the animals are taken good care of. Really no complaints. It is set in a green oasis in the middle of the city, really charming, lots of local visitors, especially schoolars. We enjoyed it immensly, there are many Indonesian species to be seen. Admission... Went here on Friday, 9am. The weather was nice. Not hot. it was still quiet and clean. The park have lots of trees. Nice to stroll around. They have ponds and lakes as well. Quite a variety of animals. The herbivores animals are looking quite well. The carnivores.. err.. not so much. The tigers are so skinny and their fur... More

Gembira Loka is one of the oldest zoo in this country, so it's not particularly strange that you will get an oldies vibe from this place. And that's not such a bad thing too because the classic feeling are really felt romantic. The Zoo Area are quite large and would be tiring if you decide to just walk in it,... More

This zoo is complete, they do have a comodo, few penguins, two tigers, giant turtle, lots of birds, huge crocodiles, orang utan, etc. Btw, you can purchase tofu to feed the orangutans, the stand is located at the left hand side of orang utan's exibhit.

First time to the gembiraloka zoo, this time with the children. my children could not cover how nice are invited to this place. they kept talking about the giant tortoises, camels, dragons, penguins, bears attractions and feed the deer. the place is not too big and not too many animals, but the place is clean, many rest areas, toilets, a... I do not want to compare this zoo with others (Ragunan or Secret Zoo). Every zoo in different town has its own attractions. The location of this zoo is not far from Malioboro, take a taxi you will only pay IDR25.000. The price on weekend is IDR30.000 (free for children with height under 80cm). Now, I am writing this review... More

Many interesting places we can visit in Yogyakarta area. After visiting Borobudur temple or Malioboro, Gembira loka Zoo is interesting place you can stop by. The area is not so big, but various animals are available. Playing with animals such as white snake for taking a picture is possible and it is free.

Visited on 27/12/2016. An average Zoo with a small selection of animals, the highlight of which were the two tigers (rather scrawny) and the orangutans ! Lots of personal photo opportunities with Eagles, Parrots, Toucans and Snakes. Speed boats and pedal boats available on the lake, and an average cafe on the lakeside. A good place to kill a few...
