The animals in the Ragunan zoo are living better than the human residents in some of the Jakarta neighborhoods. There was no raw sewage smell and the animals look well fed. There were plenty of trees for shade and the ground was clean.

The zoo is not a nice place, but there is the possibility to run along the road in the early morning. Sometime it is also difficult to run because of the crowd.

The Zoo itself is very nice and the ticket price is silly cheap. I took a cycle to go around that was a pure workout. Definitely worth going there just be prepared of how tired you will get.

The admission ticket is hillariously cheap - about 4000 IDR (0.3 USD cents). However, getting around is difficult (as it is hot, the area is huge, and the animals are scatteredly located) except for those renting bicycles. Other facility is average, limited meal options -...More

It was a long journey to get there. Large zoo with plenty of animals. Some animals were in small cages by themselves, while others had beautiful enclosures with space and other animals for company. Some of the apes had people harassing them and no staff...More
