Came for 1 night and stayed for 5 due to suspended ferry services. Whilst that was not ideal and a cause of frustration we ended up having a fabulous time. The key to a great time is having a good agent. Mr Midu (082243549536) sorted out accommodation, moped hire, eventual ferry tickets, food recommendations that all made our stay a... More

karimunjawa is the most epic underwater view, excellent quality of coral reef, beautiful sunset, and nice islands, nice people everywhere. Located in Jepara, Central Java. It's easy to access only take 1 bus from Jakarta and we dropped at Kartini harbor, get a ship ticket, next thing you know that you are there. Get an ojek (motor taxi) or simply... More

Karimunjawa truly is a gem. It's autenthic still (not too much tourism) and is filled with white sand beaches, beautiful tropical forest views and friendly local people. To get there is a bit of a hassle but believe me, it's worth it.

We finally had a chance to visit Karimunjawa in Aug 2016, after having our holiday canceled a year before due to bad weather. This time, we booked return tickets of Airfast plane from Surabaya to Karimunjawa. Airfast is a small local airlines which provides flying routes to Karimunjawa in small charter planes (max. 12 passengers) from Semarang & Surabaya. The... More

Its a very beautiful island with nice People. At 6 pm there is no power. On the market place is a wonderful BBQ qith fresh seafood. Good places for snorkeling and amazing white sand beaches. It´s only pitty that the people leave their garbage everywhere!

We (two travellers, female, in their twenties, with a budget), came with the night train from Bandung to Semarang. By public bus,we went to Jepara, the port where slow and fast boats go from (3 hours, killing your back, 30.000IDR for both of us) From there, went on the fast boat, since we missed the slow boat (slow boat goes: jepara-karimunjava:... In My opinion It was nice but not that paradise they say. The island is starting to be touristic but they are not prepared for tourism. They didn't have beer in most of the stablishment because they are muslims. The Best in that island was the guida called John. Nice guy that made our stay in there a special time!

I absolutely loved Karimunjawa. I'm on Gili Air now and it's too crowded and touristy. Karimunjawa is quiet and beautiful. The place has improved since a lot of reviews were written - there is now electricity 22 hours a day. And there was a guy paving roads all day long! It is remote and don't expect bars or partying. There... More

Having read all the reviews, we arrived expexting to find a dream island. However, the island itself is not a dream, but an initial disappointment - no beaches to be seen, only cliffs and mangrove forests, while the main village / harbor is somewhat of a shanty town, with only few (2-3, eg Amore and Cumibar) seaside eating options. Most... More
