Take a nice stroll along the wall that kept Nanjing safe. You can see the whole city and get some amazing pictures.

Similar to other city walls, but covering a very big area. The South Gate was interesting, but wall itself was just fine. Bike rentals weren't great. Compared to other city walls, like the one in Xi'An, it's nothing special.

The wall is quite impressive for how long it is, size, and historical significance. At the China Gate there are golf cart rentals to ride along the wall. Other places it's nice to just walk along the wall and enjoy your day. Combine with visit to Xuanwu Lake to see both and have relaxed time.

We drove by it several times and it was cool all the time. There were engravings on the wall and it was so cool to see the history of this wonderful city!

Perhaps coming from the US, old things like this are particularly interesting. This wall was interesting but not as big as the city wall in Xian...and needless to say the Great Wall, but still interesting to look at and walk along. The most interesting part was a demonstration of guys tossing around concrete blocks as some kind of activity. I've... More

When in Nanjing it is easy for you to combine a visit to the Nanjing City Wall and Xuanwu lake since the lake is next to the wall. The city wall is impressive and dates back to the Ming dynasty. Since Nanjing was the capital of the Ming it makes sense that a wall was built to make it more... More

Cost 30RMB to climb the stairs to the wall. Those above get in at halh price...hehe, need proof of age. There's nothing special and unlike the Xi'an wall and Beijing wall, this has some sort of English transaltion describing when and how the wall was built.

The wall is great for a walk around the city. It's well kept and there are many different areas you can explore, e.g. walk next to the lake on the northern side or close to zhong hua men in the south. There's something for everyone.

Entered near museum just before December sunset. Light mist and cold, had it all to ourselves. Thousands of bricks have writing and makers mark still plainly visible from the 1360's. While lights on edges of crenellations and gates diffused in mist. 28 years to construct using rice water and tung tree oil mixed with lime as the mortar- long lasting... More
